Hulk Hogan Restaurant: Racist? (1 Viewer)

Here's the dress code at one of Hulk Hogan's restaurants.

The notice outside the Tampa establishment insists that 'no exceptions' will be made regarding the strict dress code.

The list includes 'no plain white or oversized T-shirts extending past the mid thigh,' 'no excessively baggy attire', 'no low hanging pants or shorts' and 'no do-rags, skull caps or bandanas'.

'Oversized' or 'excessive' jewelry is also barred, as is, curiously, all workout clothing.

An employee at the restaurant told TMZ that customers are allowed to wear 'just about anything' for lunch or dinner, but that the dress code is enforced during concerts.

Apparently when the website asked the source about the 'oversized jewelry' ban, he allegedly answered: 'I don't want to sound stereotypical...' before trailing off.

The website also spoke with Hogan, who said he merely licenses his name to the restaurant and was unaware of the dress code, but would 'look into it.'

Lots of places do this. It's good business.
I know that lots of places do this, and those places are almost always denounced as racist.

Here's the dress code at a Minneapolis establishment.

Bar Louie is now enforcing a strict dress code that is enforced every Thursday through Saturday from 9 p.m. to close and bars the following items:

- Flat-billed hats

- Large chains

- Sleeveless under shirts

- Long white T-shirts

- Athletic apparel

- Sports jerseys without collars

- Excessively baggy clothing

No here are the articles about that dress code:

Bar Louie's dress code policy denounced as 'overtly racist'

Yes, Bar Louie's dress code is racist

Sorry - this kind of thing is BS. I bet they'd catch #### if they had a sign that said, "black people wear Flat-billed hats with large chains and baggy sports jerseys," too...You can't have it both ways. Essentially, by complaining about this, folks are admitting that they ARE the stereotype they're trying to say they're not.

So you can't wear that Heat jersey unless it has a collar?

Who has ever tried to say that lots of black people don't dress a certain way? I've literally never heard anyone "try to say they're not" this particular stereotype. They're complaining about it because they are aware that it's true.

'I'm no racist!' Hulk Hogan orders his new Florida beach restaurant to withdraw 'anti black' dress code

He is famed for wearing bandanas as part of his everyday attire both in an out of the ring. And wrestling legend Hulk Hogan has now ordered his new Florida restaurant to abandon what some claimed was a racist dress code that banned that very item of attire. Other pieces of clothing that were not allowed at the Florida eatery Hogan's Beach, included 'low hanging pants,' 'skull caps' and 'oversized jewelry,' the latter again standing out as the WWE superstar is noted for wearing a large crucifix around his neck.

The Hulkster insisted to TMZ That he is not racist, and revealed he put in a personal call to the restaurant's managers insisting they took down the sign which listed the prohibited clothing, and which caused the ensuing media storm. He said the dress code was modeled after ones pool parties in Las Vegas and Miami, though he conceded he understand why some people could have inferred it as being targeting black people.

The notice outside the Tampa establishment had insisted there would be 'no exceptions' made regarding the strict dress code, despite the fact its celebrity endorser, who insists he does not actually own the establishment, would not be allowed in himself.

It had been claimed the policy discriminated against black people.

The Hulkster submitted.

We seem to have changed our definition of racism in this country.

Racism, in terms of discrimination, involves discriminating against someone because of the color of their skin. It has nothing to do with how you dress.

It's a good thing Randy Macho Man Savage isn't alive to see this, he'd be spinning in his grave.

:goodposting: This has to do with thug type behavior that happens in these establishments. It could be either white, Latino, or black, or even Asian. If you are a black dude and you show up wearing jeans and a regular shirt, there is no issue right? I can tell you this...if they have enough bad incidents, they will lose their liquor license.
