Anyone on humira and worried about corona virus?  What you going to do?  Stop taking the medication?  Have you asked your doctor about it?  Are we at a greater risk?

I asked my dermatologist about this this week. She said keep taking it, but if I get sick, discontinue. Ask your dermatologist and let's compare notes. I'm not convinced. (Actually I take Otezla now, but I think it works the same)

I’m staying on it unless I get sick. Do you guys get sick a lot? I’ve been on it probably 12 years and almost never get sick so I don’t feel at risk but that could be wrong with a new virus.

I mentioned I'm on some steroid inhalers (pulmicort for daily use to relieve asthmatic issues), which my wife has read from the CDC compromises the immune system...but my pulmonologist recommends to keep using as needed.

I'm on Remicade, an immune system suppressant. Will stick with it. Only thing I plan on doing different is be more aware of those around me showing signs of being sick and washing the hands more often.

My Dr said to stay on it. There is no indication that we are more susceptible to getting the virus but if I get sick to stop taking it. Obviously this is what I planned.

Chronic auto-immune disease sufferer here. I just did my blood work on Fri for upcoming Humira script. I was wondering about this myself. Humira lowers the bodies' attacks on bacteria.

I don’t know about bacteria I just know it lowers your ability to fight off illness. That being said it has been a game changer so far for my colitis.  I feel “normal” again after many many years of suffering.  I wish I would have switched years ago. Hope you have the same outcome.

Thanks Boots. UC took several body parts. Now they say Crohns or "Crohns like" disease is attacking my jpouch. Sucks ###, literally.

Sorry to hear that. Sometimes I get angry about having this but then hear stories like yours and think man I’m lucky mine isn’t that bad. Thanks for sharing.

Many of those drugs increase the risk for respiratory infections, but none are contraindicated in the absence of active infection. Just as a cancer patient shouldn’t delay chemotherapy for fear of infection, you should continue your meds if they’re working and you’re not sick on top of your chronic condition.

Also, I think the severity of your affliction matters. I have psoriasis. It's relatively mild and even if I go off the meds for a few months, I am not going to experience much impact. Obviously other people have much more serious issues and a couple months without could severely reduce their quality of life.

I’ve been on Humira and other biological for ten years. If I get sick, even just a cold, I hold off taking my injection. I was supposed to take it last Sunday March 29 but I did not. I’m going to hold off as long as I can. I’m always at home but if I need something at the store I have to go get it as I have no one living close to me that could go. I wear a mask and gloves all the time, and wipe the cart handles also.
