I don't get any of the Trump/Hillary stuff and this board has become a real cluster####, even to me (1 Viewer)

All the closet racists finally feel emboldened to come out of their trailers and shout from the rooftops how all the brown people are stealing their livelihoods. I say just let them go nuts for another 5 months, let it all out. Because after that, life sucks for them again.

Is it really about the Trump/Hillary stuff?  I think maybe we all just need to put in some more effort, regardless of the political circus that may be occurring.  I know you guys have discussed a lot of stuff in the past, but there are still more topics to cover and stories to tell.

I'm not voting bc I hate them both so much, but I've thought about a gun to head scenario, if I had to vote it would prob be Trump over Hillary. They're both slimy disgusting people, but Hillary tries to hide it more, so that makes her even worse and more deceptive IMO.

Are you sure?  Between the Democrat voters rioting at Trump rallies and Hillary supporters accusing the Sanders supporters of violence I think you haven't been paying attention to what is actually going on.

To think there is going to be any violence at the GOP convention caused by Republicans against Republicans is a joke. Now the loser protesters outside? That is probably guaranteed.

However on the Democratic side, you have the Establishment just wanting Clinton to have her big moment, but you are going to have passionate Sanders supporters showing up thinking they had something stolen from them and there is a high chance for problems.

The idea that Sander's supporters will riot at the DNC after Hillary won by more than 3 million votes is a conservative fantasy, but has little basis in reality.  Nevada was an outlier, handful of Bernie supporters and nothing like it before or since at Democratic related events. And this was Sanders recent response to violence at Trump rallies, if you have been paying attention: Sanders condemns violence outside of Trump rallies, says his supporters “better not” be responsible

No basis in reality?  It's the Democratic supporters that are causing problems EVERYWHERE.  I would say history is a good indicator of what may happen in the future.  It might not happen, sure, but odds are that it will.

I don't care what Sanders said.  Democrats STILL caused problems at Republican AND Democrat rallies/conventions.

Really? What problems have been caused by Democrats at any Democratic conventions since 1968?

If the most recent violence at Democratic conventions caused by Democrats is almost 50 years old, you don't have a very strong argument.

On the sole issue of which group is the most violent, the conservatives posting here have it in the right- it is the anti-Trump protestors who have been the most violent by far and who have shown a gross disrespect for freedom of speech and the political process. I wish this were not true as I am very much on their side. I believe that their cause is right, that Trump is preaching bigotry and hatred. But the Trump fans, with rare exceptions, have not acted in a violent way. The anti-Trump people have. 

And as I have noted before, this is unfortunately true of progressives as a general rule at least for my entire life, dating from the time of the Vietnam War protests. They tend to be unruly and there always seems to be violence. The Tea Party, for all it's faults, have generally held peaceful protests, mindful of law and authority. The Occupy Movement did not. Neither did the BLM protests, or the Ferguson or Baltimore protests (both of which turned into angry riots.) 

I do not know why the Left in this country tends to be more prone to violence than the Right. I don't know why the Left on college campuses shout down right wing speakers, with the effect of canceling free speech. I don't know why they are more intolerant of opposing opinion. I only know that, regrettably, these things are true.

She's almost never on TV speaking 'with' someone; instead she's usually just reading lines.  Trump seems to have no problem talking to anyone, at any time.

This is simple.  Politics is the religion of the Left.  When you are motivated by religion above all else, these things happen.  We see it around the world daily.

I think that there is some selective memory here, or some strange definitions.  The KKK and similar organizations are politically right. Right wing extremists have carried out massive numbers of violent acts in the name of right wing ideals, including recent armed occupations of federal land and directly pointing firearms at federal officers.  The sovereign citizen movement and similar movements are right wing organizations.

The main difference in my opinion is that the beliefs and ideals of the violent groups on the left aren't spoken of in code by left wing mainstreamers.  There is a more clearly identifiable link between the goals of the party and the actions of the extreme factions who identify with that party. But people inciting violence at a Trump rally no more speak for "the left" than Ammon Bundy speaks for "the right."
