$500-$800 seems right, but february is dog dental health month i think. my vet always ran a special during february and prices were closer to $500-. i would axe them when the specials are….The vet just said our 3 year old standard poodle could use an appointment with a dental hygienist for a teeth cleaning. Prices quoted on this are $600-$1200.
That's insane, right? Are people really paying this for doggie teeth cleaning?
Thats what we had. We no longer get the dental cleaning. Shes older now and it takes her awhile to recover after the procedure.I had a plan through Banfield that came with one annual cleaning in addition to the other benefits. I think it was around 60-70 a month, can’t remember exactly.
Greenies are the shark move.

Every dog I’ve tried them with promptly threw them up.

Interesting. Every dog I've had would go nuts for them. Favorite treat by far. Cats also love them.
I think it’s the opposite with human doctors, as experienced ones tend to be more cognizant of the nuances of reimbursement. With vets and dentists, you gotta watch out for the young one's that still have massive student loans due.
Like going to a mechanic that owes the Snap-On dealer $300K.
A good friend of mine is a Vet.
Been a dog owner my whole life and wish I did not know the inside of the vet business. I know there are animal lovers who are vets but make no mistake it is a business first. They are trained to upsell you because you want the best for your pooch. My daughter took her dog into a vet by her home for an nail trimming and ended paying an extra 150.00 for a Wellness check? The dog is 18 months old. I asked what did that include> Said basically checked her eyes and ears and felt around everywhere.
I am talking about the big city vets, I have been to rural areas where the vets are actually not trying to maximize $$$ because they can`t over charge their customers.

Same here. This is what I've been doing and my dog's teeth look very good. If she ever develops a problem, I'd spend that kind of money+ if needed to fix it, but otherwise dry food instead of wet at least some of the time, dental treats like Greenies, and brushing has been more than enough to keep her teeth healthy.WTF? I Thought brushing every now and then and dental treats were good? I've never had a dog have problems beyond that.
