I sold my business last week (1 Viewer)

I don't know, I guess I am just disappointed to read that someone sold their business with no dollar figures. That's like someone telling you they have a secret, and just walking away.

Thanks

I supoose it depends upon what motivates you. In Kutta's case it is clearly not just $$

Kutta - congratulations. I have been toying with going on my own and might come back to you with questions in the future

Why does it matter? He's said it was a good amount of money. The story is more about years of hard work paying off, you know, the American Dream?

That's great for him, I am sure it is about more than just the money.

However, I am the reader here. I open up a story about selling a business, as the reader who is not involved in the situation, I was expecting some dollar figures.

Not a big deal, great for him. Well done kutta

ETA: If I buy one of those $60 drones from Amazon, can I send it to you to trick it out?

I think Joe Bryant should disclose how much he got for Bryant Boats before Kutta tells us how much he got from his sale.

Probably a bit more expensive than a Chinese bride, at least just considering the short term costs.

What I'm interested in hearing as time goes on is how his staying with the company goes. No matter how much he likes the guys who bought him out--and how much money he received--it's always a shock to the former owner to have to give up control of his company.

I had a good friend from law school sell his company about 2 years ago-- he didn't reveal the amount either but we had fun guessing. He kept a percentage and a seat on the board. He liked the guys who bought him out too. But he's already walked away because of a combination of the direction they've gone and the way they've treated him.

Congrats kutta!

Looking back, what would you say were the keys to your business success, besides a brilliant CEO of course?

It's not like that at all

What's the difference if he responds $800M or $800K, how does this effect you?

Awesome. I've always been interested in hearing about Kutta Technologies since coming to FBGs. As an entrepreneur myself I find your story inspiring.

Best of luck to you in your new role.

I'd say there are 2 things. First, we always were very tenacious about developing the business. Without work in the door, we wouldn't have a business. We did a very good job with that - writing proposals, meeting potential customers in person, etc. Second, we have very high standards in our hiring process. We have built a very good reputation for doing good work and doing it timely. I think it's pretty safe to say that every single customer we have ever had would say good things about us.

We were also in the right place at the right time a few times, so I'd say there was a small element of luck there. But I always figure if we weren't there we would have been somewhere else, which may have even turned out better. So I discount the "luck factor" pretty heavily.

Agreed. It will be interesting to see how it pans out. But I have very high hopes and so far, I am very impressed.
