I want to pull the trigger on Hamels (1 Viewer)

I am very nice in offensive categories. As posted before I picked up Michael Barrett off the WW in the absence of Mauer. With him coming back the Hamels owner(knowing I am last in WHIP and 3rd to last in ERA) tells me if I give up Mauer + 1 of my pitchers(either Kazmir, matt morris, joe blanton, of capuano)

Which one should I give? I think Hamels has "it" this year but I do not want to sell too high. Mauer being hurt and slow to return is the only real reason he wants the extra pitcher.

Any ideas on who would be the best to tie together with Mauer. I was leaning blanton...but would love some feed back

I think Morris has been pretty lucky up to this point, but Blanton would be the one I'd deal. Cap usually tanks in the 2nd half, but Brewers are much improved over past years so he should at least post decent win totals for you.

I agree, Morris is the pitcher to dump here.

why morris over blanton? I think they are pretty close and blanton seems to struggle more times than morris has. Both have a complete game(which actually counts in our league...never seen that before)Right now I have it blanton, morris, but please, im open to opinions

Trade Morris in the deal...here's why:

His K/9 ratings since 2003 (in order): 6.3, 5.8, 5.1, 4.2 (current) - see a trend?

His runners LOB% since 2003: 72%, 69%, 71%, 64%, 80% (current) - which one doesn't belong?

ERAs in the same order as LOB%: 3.77, 4.72, 4.12, 4.98, 2.90 (current) - see the relationship?

Opp BABIP (in order): .280, .280, .310, .290, .280

K/BB ratio (in order): 3.1, 2.3, 3.3, 1.9, 1.4

Morris has been EXTREMELY fortunate this year. His FIP is nearly 2 full runs higher than his actual ERA. A pitcher with a K/9 and K/BB that low is flirting with disaster. If you own Morris and you aren't out there trying to get rid of him, what are you waiting for?

Agree 100% on all of this.

Another CG gem by Morris last night against a hot team. Hard luck loser but we get points for CG. I dont know what I can get for him however(he is probably at max value right now), but the guy is straight producing in our league.

You're right about him being at max. value. If you look up "sell high" in the dictionary, there's a picture of Matt Morris there.

What would he fetch in offers. Since we are on an innings limit I would like to unload two pitchers (morris + "X" ) for one(a semi stud). A situation that would help another team by gaining an extra arm and only losing one.My staff is as follows - Morris, Blanton, Kazmir, Lincecum, Bailey, Slowey, Accardo, Gregg, Hennessey, CapuanoI would like a quality starter. One which I can throw out there and 80% of the time know he is going to give me positive production. I could also use K's. What do you think morris and one of the above could land? Anything decent?

I'd dangle Lincecum with him and see how much someone would be willing to offer. He dominated in the minors because hitters would chase his heat out of the zone. He's had a mix of good/shaky outings in the majors, and it's the hitters who don't chase him that are giving him fits. But his overall numbers are still pretty good, and a lot of fantasy leaguers are still absolutely enamored with his stuff and might overpay right now. It's worth a shot, anyway. If you don't get any offers that you like, then keep him and deal someone else.
