IDP roster setup (1 Viewer)

ReadyMan

Footballguy
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this thread...hopefully it is.

Our IDP league (14 teams) has our roster options as:

1 QB

2 RB

2 WR

1 TE

1 Flex (RB/WR/TE)

1 DT

1 DE

2 LB

2 CB

2 S

1 DP

with 6 bench spots (and one IR spot)

We're thinking about adding a few more roster slots.

Is there a general concensus on what is the best roster setup?

Or is there an obvious addition that we should/could make?

Thanks for any input!

In my primary league, I really like our setup:

1 QB

2 RB

3 WR

1 TE

1 Flex (RB, WR, TE)

1 PK

2 DL (DT or DE)

2 LB

2 DB (CB or S)

1 Flex (DL, LB, DB)

Another option for you to consider. In the setup you mentioned, it has more defensive guys playing. However, there are a million ways to set it up.

Our salary cap/contract/IDP league (16 teams) uses the following

1 QB

2 RB

3 WR

1 TE

1 Flex (RB, WR, TE)

1 PK

1 DT

2 DE

2 LB

2 CB

2 S

2 D Flex (DT, LB, S, CB)

The requirement to play 2 DE (no more, no less) and the 2 D Flex positions allows teams to recreate NFL Defensive schemes. 3-4, 4-3, 4-2-5, 6-2 etc.

Thank you for the ideas!

I really like this idea. How many bench spots and IR spots do you have?

We have 45 roster spots and 5 practice squad players. (But, in our league, you can make offers for players on other teams practice squad.) Also, we have no limit to IR spots. Since it is salary cap and contracts, we treat IR the same as the NFL. The players salary still counts towards cap, but by moving him to IR, you gain a roster spot.

I doubt there will be a general consensus, but what I'd do is look at lists of the various positions by points and see who is at the bottom, and who is excluded.so, you use 28 cb -- which cb are 25-30, and is there extra depth at that position? (probably not)you might be able to squeeze in an extra lb, or dp, and I've found with only one de you can pretty much stream them, so maybe you could add one of those, although 28 de + 14 dt is kind of tough.I think if it was me I might just add 1 lb + 1 dp, and you could always rotate in a second de for good match ups in the flex spot if you wanted.

My preference

Offense varies but this is how I would go

1 QB

1 RB

3 WR

1 TE

2 Flex (RB/WR/TE)

Defense- I prefer to start 11 but at least 9 (3DL, 3 LB, 3 DB)

1 DT

1 DE

1 flex DL

3 LB

2 CB

2 S

1 Flex LB, CB or S or start 2 LBs and have 2 flex spots for DB/LB

Roster a min of 40, Developmental Taxi of 10 or 12, capped contract years and unlimited IR slots

Our league goes all out. We start 11 guys on O and D

O can be any of the following

1-2 QB

1-4 RB

2-6 WR

1-4 TE

1-2 PK

Most owners go 2-2-4-1-2 for the lineup. PK get 4 for 40, 5 for 50, 6 for 60 and score pretty well with only .5 PPR. One of the few leagues PK have decent value.

ON D you can go

1-2 DT

2-3 DE

1-4 LB

1-3 CB

1-3 S

Most popular is teh 1-3-4-1-2 as big play heavy for sacks.

We have 45 man rosters with max of 23 O spots and 1 developmental player

I want to increase this to 50 with max of 26 in off-season(And must carry a min of DT and CB. Right now most teams carry 1 and 2 at most and tons of them on ww) with 3 developmental players

I like a format that allows you to mimic "normal" defensive lineups so dt, 2 de, lb, 2 cb, 2 s, and 3 non de works for me.

Thank you all for the insight and ideas.

I think we're going to add one more DE and one more DP spot, another WR spot, and 1 more bench for a roster of:

QB

RB

RB

WR

WR

WR

TE

Flex (RB/WR/TE)

DT

DE

DE

LB

LB

CB

CB

S

S

DP

DP

7 Bench spots

I'm trying to talk the league into adding a kicker spot, but everyone is very non-plus about it...Seems like it adds another dimension to the team, but so many are down on kickers. Meh.
