If a time traveler arrived here from the year 1814 (1 Viewer)

Advances in medicine. Diseases that were fatal then are easily cured now. If a man from 2014 went to 2214 and found out cancer was no more it would blow his mind.

If someone went from now to 2214 I think besides advances in medicine people would be blown away by transportation upgrades. Coast to coast in seconds.
Don't completely agree.

In 200 years I expect cancer to be cured with ease. Coast to coast in seconds would be amazing but I expect some sort of bi advancement in 200 years.

What would blow me away in 200 years would be things that seem so far fetched.

Mailing a package to my sister who lives Venus.

Outside of technology I think we are going to have some major sociological changes. Like most people don't really work but instead get a BIG because boys have replaced most of the workforce. Something like that.

They would be shocked to see gold at 1200/ounce it would mean the monetary system had collapsed and the constitution had been abandoned.

Those wouldn't blow my mind. If they still had cancer I'd be surprised.

I'd probably be blown away by things that are presently science fiction - teleportation, space colonies, communication and/or war with aliens, etc

Edit c numb beat me to it.

I dont think cancer will be gone. Just a hunch. May even start a thread on this later. Get your popcorn ready.

Transported from 1814?? Shocked by food, charmin ultra soft, and TV. Somehow those all correlate.

Depends on where their time machine takes them. If it's someplace like NE Philly, they're going to be shocked when they get killed for their time machine.

OK maybe not cancer but how about blindness and deafness. How about being able to be taller if you want? What about being able to have whatever muscle mass you want and be able to adjust it easily.

Excellent point. If it takes them to West Virginia they'll be shocked at how little the world has changed.
Exactly.

Their minds would probably be most blown if they ended up in Tokyo. The technology there plus all the whacky Japanese fashion would melt their brains.

Anything to do with either WWI or WWII would be shocking since bombs and chemical warfare didn't really exist like they did during those two wars.

probably wouldn't even notice.

hell, this may have happened.
Untrue.

The open carry people are not carrying blunderbusses or flintlocks any more...

itd be especially funny if it was a chick from 1814. You'd be like everyone does anal and shaves now honey, get with the times.

I hold in my hand a device capable of accessing the entirety of human knowledge with the touch of a button.

..... and I use it to watch cat videos.

That if he just would have put a penny in the bank before he left at 8% annual interest, he'd have $48,389.50 to spend in Vegas now.
