If Fred Taylor is out next week (1 Viewer)

The Jags get New England, who can defintely be run on. Heck, Ron Dayne and Sammie Morris have had great games against them the past two weeks.Taylor looked incredibly gimpy on his last run when he injured himself. If I had to guess, he's out this week.I'm think MJD is a top 5 start this week.120 rushing, 45 receiving, 2 tds
The short and sweet answer isYes. :yes:The kid is going to be a major super star in this league.

According to Boston Globe staff writer Mike Reiss, the Jaguars just released their Friday injury report and Fred Taylor has been downgraded to out.

Taylor injured his hamstring in last Sunday's game against the Titans. He had been listed as questionable on Wednesday and Thursday.

The move comes as no real surprise. Taylor seemed less-than-optimistic about returning this week and repeatedly stressed he needed to be at full speed before he returns to action.

Rookie Maurice Jones-Drew is expected to start in his place, with LaBrandon Toefield also getting more time.

Jones-Drew has been listed as probable with a sore knee, but practiced without restriction all week.

I don't like the fact that Toefield will get time.

I was hoping it would be MJD all day.

I think Toefield will handle some breather carries. 5-6 touches IMO. MJD is too valuable and too productive to limit him in a must win game.

The Patriots are going to keep MJD in check. Belichick will try and take away what Jacksonville does best and put the game on Garrard's shoulders. I think the Minnesota game is a good comparison - Patriots were playing away, against a team with a very solid rushing defense that also had an offense that was very run heavy. Everyone thought that the Patriots, who were really racking up a lot of rushing yards at the time with a healthy Maroney, were going to slugt it out with Minnesota and try and run it down their throats.Instead, the Patriots came out 5-wide, and Brady threw the ball 43 times. As a result, Minnesota had to abandon their running game early in the game. Chestor Taylor had 10 carries for 22 yards. I think Jacksonville (when they show up) are better than Minnesota is, but remember how good everyone thought Minnesota was at the time.I think the Patriots will try a similar strategy this week. Maybe not AS aggressive on offense, but I still expect them to try and score quickly and early and put as much pressure on Garrard as possible.I think if Stokley catches that first pass from Manning that would've been a TD, that Jacksonville game might've been very different. Given, MJD was running through Indy like they weren't even there, but it's a lot easier to do that when you're even/ahead than if you're behind.Just my .02.Even if you think I'm wrong about how the game will go - at the very LEAST MJD drew has a very tough match up as the Patriots defense is top 5 in rushing, and 2nd overall in the NFL in points allowed per game.
I agree but Jones Drew poses different matchup problems than Chester because Garrard is much more mobile than Brad Johnson. Plus the Jags are playing for their life. It's a tough matchup but I think MJD does better than Chester did.
Again, in the past 2 weeks, Ron Freaking Dayne and Sammie NoName Morris ran circles around the Pats D. I don't think their QBs pose any more of a threat than Garrad. This is a perfect storm for MJD owners in the playoffs.

Noonan, I hope you are right, but I don't like what I see here:Vito Stellino, of the Florida Times-Union, reports RB LaBrandon Toefield will be active for the team's Week 16 game, and he could play a large role backing up RB Maurice Jones-Drew (knee). Jones-Drew is probable to play this week, while RB Fred Taylor (hamstring) is listed as questionable.I hope it's just his opinion.

I predict that MJD gets about 25 carries plus a few receptions, Toefield around 6, and Pearman with 1 or 2. It is pretty unusual for any RB to get all the carries in a game.

What are the odds of Drew still returning kicks this week? My league gives points to players for return yards as well, which would make him extra valuable for me.
