IF Leftwich goes to Baltimore... (1 Viewer)

With the Ravens "reportedly" showing interest in Leftwich, would he become the backup to McNair immediately or will it take 6 weeks or more, or ever? What happens to Boller? Cut, traded, or demoted?

Any thoughts or predictions?

How long until he's the starter?

Billick wants to stretch the field with longer passes, but McNair's not so good at that.

He'd be #2 immediately.

With McNair's injury history, Lefty would be expected to see action soon.

Course, with Lefty's injury history, Boller would be the #3 QB most likely to be starting by week 6.

Maybe Chris Chandler is available.

Leftwich is not coming to Baltimore this year.

Boller is in the last year of his rookie contract and firmly entrenched as the #2.

Next year? Boller will be gone, McNair will probably be in his last season, and I could see Leftwich signing a 3-year deal in Baltimore to be #2 in 2008, and then start the following two seasons.

Assuming Balt and Lefty reach a deal, only way I see it happening is a 2 year cap friendly deal with Lefty being relegated to #3 but given the opty to start next year.

Odds of Boller remaining in Balt next year is slim to nil with similar odds of Lefty leap frogging Boller in the near term.

If Leftwich doesn't go to Balt this year, I doubt they can get him next year.

Really?I would think that Leftiwch's best move is to sign a one-year deal this year, then hit the open market fresh next year when people have cap room, openings at QB, and an entire off-season to teach him a new system. I don't think he's getting any kind of payday this year with less than a week to go before the season starts.

Looks like Slim was in town, and I was wrong. Boller signed 1 year extension earlier this evening - sorry no link yet, not that anyone cares that much

I'm not a Baltimore homer, but I actually think that Boller is a better QB then Leftwich. I think he was starting to become a better QB right b4 the Ravens got McNair, and I think his time behind McNair has probably been pretty good 4 him. Can't see how getting Leftwich makes the Ravens a better team. :goodposting:
