If NE uses Welker on Pats and FGs (1 Viewer)

His line can look like this. 5 rec 60 yards 1 TD 2 FG made 3 pat made = 21 points, 26 points in ppr leagues.

Bellechick genius!

Monitor this situation closely. NE has not signed a kicker yet. If Welker gets kicker duties then he can score some nice points as a flex play. Unless your league penalizes for missed FGs and Pats. I know it sounds completely crazy that Welker could score points in ppr, yards, td, fg and pats category. But stranger things have happened. In 2004 Welker kicked a 29 yard FG against the Pats. Welker used to play soccer since he was 4 years old.

"Patriots K Stephen Gostkowski (quad) had an MRI Monday, the results of which are not yet known.

The Boston Globe is reporting that his status is still "up in the air," while Comcast SportsNet New England has previously reported he'll miss at least two weeks and the team is expected to sign Shayne Graham to fill in. At this point, coach Bill Belichick has said only that bringing in another kicker is "a possibility.""

More importantly, if Suh keeps kicking for the Lions, can the Lions D become a top D/ST? Would the Defense get credit for his kicks in team D/ST leagues?

In most leagues FGs are worth 3 points which equates to 30 yards in standard scoring (1 point per 10 yards). So if he kicks two FGs that's 60 yards right there. Not bad.

What are various league's qualifications to be listed as a kicker?

I mean, why couldn't Welker be played as a K once he's played a game there? I know a lot of baseball leagues require X number of games started to qualify for a certain position, I'm sure football is the same. I know Dexter McCluster is listed at WR and RB on Yahoo leagues.

If you could start him at K and take advantage of his WR stats, he'd be the #1 K AND free up a roster spot at WR.

Or if you have crappy receivers like me (Moss, Ochocinco, steve smith) you could trade for welker, start him at WR knowing you also get kicker points... because my starting kicker will outscore those crappy receivers.

If Welker is WR and PK you can maybe hope for top 30. Have you seen the stats since Randy left???

No signing yet. But could happen later in the week. Not sure what the Pats are waiting for. They aren't even trying out kickers yet. Detroit has already signed Rayner today.
