If Tedy Bruschi or Junior Seau retires after this season... (1 Viewer)

... Dansby seems to be the no brainer here, but could a deal be worked for London Fletcher, Kawika Mitchell, or even Terrell Suggs?

It's a position they're going to need to address one way or another. Cap room is iffy at $11m and the '08 crop is heavy on DL prospects, so I don't really see them drafting anyone this year, so... any thoughts?

If just 1 retires they can move Thomas inside and they still have Vrabel and Colvin outside. They could also draft a stud like Ghoulston or Long to slowly bring along as an outside lb. Vrabel could eventually move inside as well. If both Bruschi and Seau retire then they will probably try to pick up another veteran.

The Belichick MO would be to take a look at Al Wilson and Zack Thomas if/when he's cut. Dansby might be too $$$ but then again I thought same thing about Adalius Thomas.

But I would not be shocked to see one if not both back.

pretty sure dansby is getting franchise

JR will hang it up

not sure about brewski but I noticed he played in the SB vs. Gb on the re-air the other day so, he might be close too

They will get the best player they can who does not mind cheating to win games... no honor, no scrupples, no integrity.

Their young LBers looked very good in preseason and practices. I'd assume they'd hand over the reigns to Oscar Lua or Pierre Woods before signing someone else.

Always build with guys you already have is the Pats M.O.

A lot will depend who stays and who goes. Briggs would not be out of the question if Samuel leaves. Colvin has a big cap number for next year (like $7 million and change), so he could be gone. I hear speculation that Clark Haggans would be a decent option and fits the profile that the Pats would normally want in a LB.

Unlikely but....

There's been gripes about the Jets LBers and the scheme Mangini is running. IMO They have some real good young ones. I'm confident BB would love to get one of them-proves they could work in such a system and gets a real good young talent.

I'd love for them to trade for Rob Carpenter's son. Former first round pick stuck in Dallas' very deep LB corp. He grew up watching BBs Ds on tape so, I wonder if that can be a reason to excuse BBs experience requirement for LBers. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Parcells inquires about him.

Vrabel and Thomas shift inside, Colvin stays outside and the Pats pick up Jason Taylor if he is cut to play outside.

It would be scary, but unlikely.

Mike Singletary...they need to get younger.

Bruschi might stick around another year, but he's not an answer at starter. I was watching my SB39 DVD the other day and noticed how fast Bruschi was compared to today. His best years are way behind him.

Oscar Lua indeed looked good at ILB before being put on IR. Woods is an OLB, IIRC. I don't know if Eric Alexander is going to cut it.If Asante takes off for his payday and Colvin is either restructured or cut, I can see the Pats making a run at Dansby (assuming he's not franchised) like they did at Thomas...they'll offer big money, but not the most money and sell the idea of competing for a title as a reason for the discount. Worked for Thomas and Colvin.
