If the Playoffs started Now (1 Viewer)

Ministry of Pain

I want to make sure I have this right since there are 7 teams going to the playoffs from each Conference.

AFC

7.Las Vegas at 2.Kansas City

6.Tennessee at 3.Buffalo

5.Baltimore at 4.Indianapolis

1.Pittsburgh-Bye

Miami and Cleveland have identical records with Vegas at 5-3.

NFC

7.LA Rams at 2.Green Bay

6.Arizona at 3.Seattle

5.Bucs at 4.Philly

1. New Orleans

Chicago is 5-4 and fading, San Fran has a lot of injuries and is 4-5 right now. Somehow the Tampa Bay-Philly game seems unfair when you look at how the others would pair in the 1st Round. It's possible Philly could host a 2nd Playoff game if Arizona and LA win their games. Philly would host Arizona and then it's possible they could even host an NFCC in this crazy scenario.

Back to reality.

Great write-up MOP, just one note on Sea/GB Tiebreaker from ESPN:

"Wins tie break over Green Bay based on best win percentage in conference games."

https://www.espn.com/nfl/standings/_/view/playoff

They have Sea as the 2 seed right now, of course with that atrocious Defense who knows where they finish...

The road to the Super Bowl goes through Philly ;)

Somehow with 7 teams it feels even stranger that the team with the second best record can be the 5 seed. You could potentially see 7th seeds with 3 to 4 more wins than a 4th seed.

I put it at 75/25 the NFL bumps it to 8 teams this season.

If they do that, even the #1 seed loses their bye.

In this season with minimal fans, home field advantage means very little and the bye means everything.  Already a shame that the 2 seed is losing theirs.

AFC

1. Pitt 9-0

2. Kansas City 8-1

3. Buffalo 7-3

4. Indy 6-3

5. Baltimore 6-3

6. Las Vegas 6-3

7, Miami 6-3

Both Cleveland 6-3 and Tennessee 6-3 appear to be looking in, AFC is tough.

Even though they(NBC) acted like the Patriots saved their season, they are going to need 2-3 of these teams to just collapse down the stretch and they have to catch fire. I think if they finish 8-8 that would be an accomplishment with all the people who are not on that team right now and who were in 2019.

Saints may end up dropping a couple and giving the division back to Tampa if Brees misses significant time

Funny, I was looking at their schedule yesterday and thinking they had a legit shot. I had no idea those outside 6-3 teams were looking in.

Tough conference and the NFC East isn't helping anything via unbalanced inter-conference play.

Absolutely, the Saints looked like they had hammerlock on it but the Brady Mystique as i lik to call it is in full swing for the Bucs who have 2 losses to the Saints and possibly could never face them again the rest of the way. Bucs can still get to 11-5, they play Atlanta twice, have 2 pretty tough teams next 2 weeks with Rams and Chiefs, think they can beat the Ram but no way on the Chiefs.

I think you have to throw out the NO game when thinking about Tampa and how good they are. They can beat the Chiefs. They have the defense to frustrate and hit Mahomes and the offense to hang.

That the Raiders beat the Chiefs fairly decently (they were running out the clock at the end. It was no miracle comeback) should be enough to prove their non-invincible nature, though the Raiders also disposed of the Saints, so they're pretty good.
