Alright, let's see which meat is most beloved. If you're giving up a chicken, no more eggs and chicken meat. If you're giving up the cow, no more steaks or ground beef or cow's milk. If you're giving up the pig, no more pork, ham, or bacon. I know fish is a much more general group and not a specific animal, but we'll just say no more seafood including shrimp, lobster, and shellfish. Also, obviously, no more sushi.

Which one can you most easily do without? Which one are you definitely keeping?

I already don't eat much pig, so that'd be easiest to give up. Assuming that you meant what would I give up that I already haven't cow would be the easiest choice. Chicken the hardest.

As much as I love bacon it's between pig and fish. Bacon is the only food I truly love from a pig.

If someone invented a bacon substitute that tasted as good as the real thing, then I would have no need for pigs in my life.

Tough call for me as I don't eat chicken, but I plow through eggs like a 4 year old at Easter. I'd give up the pig and it's ham, pork chops and bacon just to save the eggs. I will never give up the cow with it's awesome beef and glorious milk.

Came down to giving up either cow or pig based on saturated fats. Chose cow because I couldn't think of any pork, even bacon, I would rather have than a good steak.

After all, when you look at a dietary exchange list, bacon is just fat.

I can't give up chicken, because as an athlete, and a griller, from a simply logical point of view grilled chicken is a must have and I can't do without it. Daily.

But I should have chosen fish as the one not to give up. We all should have. Fish is found in virtually every diet in the world. Is incredibly healthy for you (hello omega 3), and as Americans our dietary omega 3 to omega 6 ratio is way out of control.

most likely to give up- fish: I can eat shrimp, scallops, lobster, crab, etc...instead. Losing sushi would suck, though.

least likely to give up- chicken: dark chicken meat is just about the best thing on earth. I could do without beef or pork, although I would miss bacon with all my might.

most likely is easily fish.

least likely is much harder. chicken and cow for me. when you include eggs and milk it becomes even harder. went with cow. i probably eat chicken/cow pretty evenly, but i have cereal with milk every day. eggs are only sometimes (both by themselves and used in cooking).

Heh, so far Fish is getting killed here. I'm surprised the FFA is so quick to give up shrimp and lobster as well as salmon and other great fish.

Sorry, but shrimp, scallops, lobster, crab was all included in the fish. You'd have to give up all of those.

I glossed over that point in the OP.

I think I would still give up fish, because it's expensive and not very easy to obtain around here.

whoa there. shrimp and lobster is not included in "fish". that was critical in my choice.
It is in this poll. My poll, my rules. Deal with it!!

I assume the fish catergory includes all seafood?

If so

most likely : chicken (unless I can't have eggs)

least likely : cow

When I came into this post I was all ready to give up fish until it was called fish/seafood.

I gotta keep beef - the only true red meat.

I love me some chicken.

I'm giving up the pork as the only thing I will really miss is bacon.

Chicken would be the easiest to give up by far. It's the least diverse meat out of the choices. Eggs would be a big loss, but other than that, it's just chicken. The other options shut down many more meal choices.

Most likely - fish. I'm allergic to any shelled seafood, and I don't like much other fish anyways. No brainer here for me.

Least likely - cow. No steaks? Not in my world.

Whoa... didn't know there eggs counted as chicken meat. That stuffs in cookies, cake and pizza. No way I'm giving up eggs.

That's interesting. Care to explain?
Edited my original post. Cholesterol is borderline on the high side so as much as I'd love to eat all the bacon, ribs, pork chops and ham as I want I'm really cutting back on pig. Cutting back on cow to a lesser extent but just can't say no to a good burger and steak. I'm eating alot more chicken and fish than I did in my 20's and that trend is only going to continue.

Give up easily -- Chicken (but screw the egg included idea)

Never give up -- Fish/Seafood (no way)

I still get beef or pork to go with, but I'm not giving up fish.

I'd give up chicken, and it's not very close.

What little flavor chicken ever had has been completely bred out of it and all flavor must come from the cooking method. Oddly, this lack of flavor is why it's so popular.

Chicken is the Ben Stiller of proteins.

You could say similar things about pork, but there's simply no way to get all the fat/flavor out of a pig (though people are certainly trying).

I have no idea how anyone could give up beef or seafood. Both have a variety of cuts/species that you can simply throw on a grill for 2 minutes (or not at all) and they'll be delicious on their own merits.

Give up pork. Was thinking seafood but sushi is more important to me than bacon. All other seafood and pork is not that important.

Wouldn't give up chicken. Too much of a regular staple. Wouldn't want my only only protein options to be rich meats, fish, or veggie.

Pigs are a magical animal, I celebrate all of their delicious offerings. Praise the lard.
