Iguchi Traded To Phillies (1 Viewer)

You mean they couldn't get ANY more for Iguchi? THAT'S it?Oof.
:goodposting: You make it sound like Iguchi is a great player. He's never had an OPS over 780 and this year its a career low 723. Hes a good solid ballplayer who has a little power, steals a few bases, plays solid defense, and fouls off a lot of pitches. He does nothing great. Hes a solid player not a great player or anything.

I know he's not a great player. But as you said, he's a good solid ballplayer and getting only a minor league reliever is a tad surprising.

They had a guy named Polanco, once upon a time.
 You do know that Chase Utley is the best 2nd baseman in the game right now? Polanco might be Top 10...in the AL
???How many other 2B are hitting .340?Although you don't like to give up a nice all-around utility player, at the time, the Polanco deal seemed like a pretty good move for the Phillies.Of course if they had sacked up and benched Bell like he deserved and played Polanco at 3B, then you really would have had something.

Just read this:

-------------------------

The White Sox would have been a lot better off getting draft picks in return for Iguchi, but that wasn't possible, as they were going to be prevented from offering him arbitration.

-------------------------

Makes a little more sense now. Still...seems like they could have gotten something more

Nice move by Gillick right after Utley went down - that was pretty quick. Team has reached a high water mark of 5 games over .500 after tonight's win.

Gave up nothing more then an average single A pitcher. Iguchi had a run and an rbi tonight in his first game. Chase could be back in 3 weeks.
