So I'll be 40 in March. Does that mean I have to go get checked out?

Do I have to do this annually?

What is this drink I have to drink and is it really as awful as everyone says?

 Is it pee?

What is the drink portion of this? I have never heard of this before.  Does the Doc buy you a drink before he puts on the glove?

Ask your doctor, but if you have family history of butt cancer...might want to start before 50.

And as always, keep up on your annual blood work.

50 unless you have a family history.  Then it is 40.
My mom has had "minor" skin cancer removed.

My older brother died (before I was even born) at four years old from leukemia.

Ive never even seen a picture of my father.

I've been to a dermatologist within the past year and a half and I've had blood work done. Both checked out fine.

Aren't they able to do that with like, sonar or something now?  Pretty sure my dad said last time he had to do it, there was no finger involved.

I turn 44 in March, was just at the doc due to high blood pressure, since both my dad and grandfather had prostate cancer, i inquired.  Blood test to check ur PSA level.  If it is above 4 then there are other things that will be checked.   The drink u mention is probably for colonoscopy.  That usually starts around 50 unless u have family history.

Interesting,  I am 42 and do not have a regular doctor and therefore no annual physicals.  However,  I do go to Sonora Quest every year for bloodwork for a health assessment in order to get a $500 credit on health costs each year.  Does anyone else here not have a regular doctor?

Seriously, the DRE and colonoscopy are no big deal.  Just get it done whenever it's recommended.  Don't delay.  Had a friend die of colon cancer at 49.  Devastating. Not sure if he had any family history and should have gone sooner or not.

I have no family history but I think about this - have a buddy who is a  few years younger and he ended having colon cancer.  He's fine now but it makes me want to get checked out.  If I can get a finger in the butt AND peace of mind it seems like a win-win.

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, it's a bit more than a finger GB.
