I'm a food snob (1 Viewer)

I have three kinds of salt in my pantry. SALT! I'm not talking about garlic salt, onion salt, etc. Just salt.

I couldn't tell you how many kinds of mustard I have in the fridge...

What is your telling sign of snobbery?

you cook with sea salt? yikes. It has its uses but for everyday cooking salt you need to be using kosher.

currently:

four salts - grey, sea, kosher and Mortons

five mustards - yellow, Dijon, Beaver Chinese (hot), stoneground with horseradish, and Inglehoffer honey mustard

and i am in no way a food snob.

I realized I was a food snob when I began to only eat foods at parties I wouldn't eat at home and only order food at restaurants I do not cook at home and absolutely no chains either. Occasional fast food exceptions are still made though, usually coincide with alcohol.

Why? Sea salt is better.

Yeah, three kinds of salt ain't ####. I have regular old Morton's, Kosher, a smoked salt and a pink Himalayan finishing salt in my pantry and I'm certainly no food snob.

Why?

We have a whole door shelf in the fridge filled with only dressings. Rasberry pecan vinagrette, Balsamic vinagrette, Red wine vinagrette, Greek, Italian, Caesar, Ranch, Thousand Island, Green Goddess, Bleu Cheese, Honey mustard, and Ginger Sesame. The shelf below it is filled with other sauces like A1, Heinz 57, Teriyaki marinade, 3 different BBQ sauces, Lemon herb marinade, buffalo wing sauce, sweet and sour, Dill Mayo, Adobe sauce, Carribean Jerk marinade, Garlic and Lime marinade, and Hosin. Not a snob, just like a lot of variety.

Anybody ever buy Kerrygold Butter? I saw this in Costco and it cracked me up. $7 for butter from grass-fed cows. But not just any grass. Only the perfectly green grass of Ireland grown within 500ft of an ancient castle.

Seems to be a lot of denial in here. Not sure why people get so hung-up on titles. If you have more than just regular table salt in the pantry, you're a foodie. And if you listen to anything not on a major label, you're a hipster. Embrace it.

if you say so. i use coarse rock or sea salt to finish dishes. for every day seasoning i use kosher, which in the culinary world is fairly universal.

I buy Kerrygold unsalted butter at Trader Joe's - $2.99. Best butter I've ever had. I usually buy 4-6 packages at a time.

People with tons of bbq and salad dressing...you are not close to snobbery. When you start making your own sauces and dressings (not from a packet either) then you're at the beginning of being a food snob.

Did I say it was bad? I'm sure it's awesome, just funny how foodie-like it is.

I usually have either some of that on hand or goat's milk butter for spreads. I also keep ghee, beef tallow, rendered bacon grease, duck fat, coconut oil and palm oil for cooking.
