I dont know how many of you use My Fantasy League as your league software but those of you familiar with it know it shows you your points by position year to date. Its a nice feature that shows your strengths and weaknesses by position compared to the rest of your league.

My team is the #1 team right now, but it has nothing to do with my QB play.

I have an avg score per game of 8.6. the league avg starting QB ytd is 19.1. My QB scoring is 10th out of 10 teams.

Now its not for lack of ability, because the same report shows that in terms of potential (bench) points at QB, my team is 3rd overall.

What this means is I'm always picking the wrong QB each week.

So, my QB's are Grossman, Brunell, Rothlisberger and Leinhart. This is a full dynasty league and I had drafted Leinhart as a long term project. I picked up Grossman off waivers early this year after his hot start.

Short of flipping a coin each week, I'm really looking for any system you can recommend to help me identify my best option at QB going forward. I'm tired of every single week picking the low scorer, I'll give you an example:

week 1 Brunell 8pts

week 2 Brunell 8 pts

week 5 Brunell 5 pts

week 6 Grossman -5pts

week 7 Leinhart 6 pts

if you have any ideas, shout 'em out. I'm probably going to the Ouija board soon.

My idea: post this in the assistant coaches forum
this isn't a WDIS thread, so sorry. This is a "do you have any system which will allow you to not pick the worst possible QB 5 out of 7 weeks?" With a 28% success rate, I think my system is broken.

Ignore the matchups and choose the guy you think is your #1, every week. I've been doing that with Vick all season and it's worked very nicely.

I disagree, this is not really a WDIS question, more of a "how do I pick a starter better question." There's strategy here, not just "pick a QB for me."

Even though I think you're a horrible person tommyboy/slimshady, I'll give my thoughts here.

One strategy would be: pick a starter and don't try to play matchups. With your propensity to pick wrong, this one has some attractiveness. On a PPG basis, Grossman should be the highest scorer under most systems. You probably should just plug him into your starter spot until he proves he is not the stud he was for weeks 1-5.

If you do insist on playing matchups, I like to look for 1) a high scoring game as predicted by Vegas's over-under number; and 2) a home QB. Other factors I consider are the quality of pass defense by yards and TD passes allowed and sacks of opposing QBs. Even so, after all that, I frequently choose wrong, which is why I like to identify the best player and just play him. Picking wrong on matchups is just too frustrating, as you are experiencing.

This is the best suggestion you are going to get.And it's Leinart.
thanks. And thanks to everyone that replied. I disagree about Leinart, but you may be right. I don't think he'll be my #1 guy until next year or even year 3. Young QB's tend to be very erratic, fantasy scoring wise. The problem with Leinart is he plays for the Cardinals. I'd say right now Grossman is my #1 until proven otherwise.

If ONLY I had such nice options... With Bledsucker being benched, I'm stuck with Alex Smith and Gradkowski. Teh suck.

I'm considering Brunell, Huard, Harrington, and Brad Johnson. Not to mention Romo... Ugh.
