Increasing starting from 2 WR to 3 WR (1 Viewer)

MY league is expanding its starting lineup from 2 WR to 3 WR this year. The remainder of the lineup requirements is QB, RB, RB, TE, PK, DEF.

My question is this: How big a difference does it make in a drafting strategy?

suggestion would be to run it on the VBD app or Draft Dominator and look at the changes in values

Effects supply and demand of WR... not quite like RB... but not too far off either.
i don't think it changes things too much. mostly everyone will likely be stuck with a similar caliber WR 3 by the time they get around to it. it might slightly favor people drafting early cuz they can do something like:Larry Johnson @ 1.01, Marvin Harrison + Julius Jones @ 2.12 + 3.01, Javon Walker + Gonzo @ 4.12 + 5.01 and end up with 2 stud RBs, 2 stud WRs, a stud TE and have a HUGE chunk of their starting lineup potentially locked up.Much harder for someone to pull that off picking in the 12-spot.

Agreed. Should modestly increase relative value of receivers throughout the draft, but why guess when you can just compare the two data sets.

With no additional information, I suggest that it effects overall roster management more than the pure draft strategy as your third WR and maybe 4th WR would be on squads anyway. You may be faced with the decision of an extra WR over a handcuff or flyer running back.

I think you're only talking WR2 deep, with WR3s on your bench. It's not bad at all.

It makes loading up on WRs a given though.... be a pro and draft two top-15 WRs early, then take your gambles.

In 3-wide leagues, especially with flex, it's the guy with one good RB and 4 good WRs who always wins

MLB -- Love the bravado! However, not so much the content. Did you read the title of the thread? The league is going from 2 WR to 3 WR in the starting lineup.I have no clue what your first sentence is or means. What does "be a pro" mean exactly? I think it's sufficient just to suggest that getting two solid WRs early can be enough to carry the position. Late picks and waiver wire moves can get you a third. That's going to help more people than telling them to "be a pro" IMO.It is simply not true that "the guy with one good RB and 4 good WRs" always wins, even in a flex lineup. Do you have any proof for this assertion? I know I'd like my chances if I could get my hands on two top 5 RBs (or even top 10s).-----First off, the scoring system will determine how much value the WRs have. If a league uses bonus points for distance TDs, then the WRs will be more valuable than in a league where all TDs are worth 6 points. However, having two top RBs is still a good idea. It's not like WRs become more predictable in a start 3 WR league. And the number of upper-level RBs doesn't go up either. So you're still better off trying to get two solid RBs in the first three rounds wherever possible. You need to be careful not to get too far behind in WR talent. If you draft 3 RBs early trying for depth and/or trade bait, your deficit at WR is more critical than in a start 2 WR league.Bottom line: My longest league has started 3 WRs since its inception in 1990. Every year I seek to get 2 RB and 2 WR in the first four rounds unless drafting for a stud TE like Coates in his day, Gonzalez until last year, and now Gates. If a TE gets drafted early, then the 5th round completes the 2 RB/2 WR set. Same guideline can apply if a top QB slips too low.
