I'm certainly no expert, but I don't recall seeing anything like the first 3 weeks of this NFL season. 300+ passing games seem like a norm rather than an event. 100 yard rushers, on the other hand, are few and far between. I don't know if this is because of rule changes, of several teams taking advantage of the tight end innovation that New England put in last year, of the shortened preseason (though you would think that would favor defense, not offense), or something else. I also don't know if this a blip or a permanent sign of things to come, and I'd like to get some opinion on that.
One result, in terms of FF, is that I am reconsidering my flex philosophy. Since I started playing I have always believed that the flex position (rb/wr) should be occupied by a running back if you can find a good one, and that is one of the basic keys to winning your league. But now I don't know. If WR numbers stay at a high level, then perhaps its better to roll out 3 WRs every week and only 2 running backs. Thoughts on this as well?
