Wright is healthy, hes been very limited in games but when he plays he looks good. Hes had less than 20 snaps I believe in the 4 weeks, maybe 5-6 targets, and of those targets 4 catches. He looks good off the line and his hands seem well above average. In the Oakland game he had a 20 yard catch.

We haven't seen him cause Mcdaniels personnel decisions are ridiculous.

Break down with videos of his five targets week 1-3.

I remember another terrible team that gave up 38 points to the dolphins a few years ago --- final was 38-24, I believe.

If you put Rodgers, Forehead, Brees, Rivers, etc behind that o-line that Brady has, they would ALL be struggling and looking the way Brady does. You're an idiot to think otherwise.

 
After the first few drives, I paid more attention to Monday Night RAW than MNF, how did Lafell end up with 119 yards? Sign of hope or just the beneficiary of an out of reach game?

He actually caught a ball. He was pretty open with two guys on Edelman and Gronk.

 
Lafell numbers were a fluke. Fool's gold. I know a lot of people rushed out to get him but he is hot trash. Not sure how Pats ended up with him instead of Sanders when they showed such a strong interest when ES was a RFA. But what do I know, I'm just a dude on a laptop.

a lot of that was on big runs after a couple catches ---- one of those they just pitched it down the line and he broke a couple tackles running down the sideline

Still blows my mind at how the pats only ended up with LaFell. I wonder what the plans were if Edelman didn't end up resigning.

They should bring on Charlie Weis to the staff for the remainder of the season. Call me crazy , but I think they grind out a win on Sunday night.

 
Coach Bill Belichick strongly denied a report that Aaron Dobson "mouthed off" to OC Josh McDaniels, leading to Dobson being inactive the past two weeks.
"In my year and a half with Aaron Dobson, he has always been respectful to me and to the rest of the coaching staff," Belichick said. "He has never once been argumentative or confrontational. The suggestion and reporting that his playing time was in any way the result of a ‘loud disagreement’ with a coach is completely false." Belichick says Dobson has been a healthy scratch because of "football" reasons.

The Patriots played poorly last Monday—poorly like a skateboard handles in a Nor’easter. As a player, I’ve heard the phrase “We’re moving onto _____” more times than I can remember from Coach Belichick—but no more so after back-slapping victories than painful losses.

As a fan base, it’s understandable that “moving on” wasn’t going to happen this week. We were going to play Operation with every Patriot glowing organ that we could poke. When seemingly everyone plays and coaches poorly, it’s to be expected. As a player, you understand that.

I played in the 31-0 dumpster-fire game on opening day in 2003. I’ve been there. When nothing works. When nothing seems right. You expect the scrutiny, even though you know that the problem-solving detectives on the outside will come to conclusions of equal trash-value to our performance.

The most ridiculous (and oft-repeated) conclusion birthed from CSI Patriots week? The Patriots stink right now because they don’t surround Tom Brady with the kind of weapons that all the other elite quarterbacks get.

Pressure will make any QB perform worse, but there have been plenty of non-rushed terrible passes by Brady. It's never easy for once great players to become average. People will continue making excuses until the denial phase passes.

Peyton continues to make noodle arm passes as well. It's what happens when you hit your late 30s. Throw him behind that line and I guarantee he'd be looking just as bad as Brady. I'm not in denial at all, but people are going overboard and blaming it more so on Brady's skill rather than his O-line.

I just don't agree with this. In fact I think it is stupid. The reason the Patriots are going on 14 years of being a legit super bowl contender every year is the way they do business. Peyton Manning has had losing season, Brett Farve had losing seasons, Drew Brees has had losing seasons. Brady isn't light years better than those guys. I am not sure if this is the beginning of the end, but nothing last forever.

That article is laughible bad. I'll focus just on the Broncos and Patriots comparison.

The writer asserts that the Broncos went out and got Peyton all he needed. Most of the offense was already there when Peyton got there. The current regime did not add much, and in fact lost players not added them. They went out and got Welker last year, but this year lost Decker and Moreno, both players that had significantly better seasons than guys that the Pats let go (ie younger with multiple years of football in their careers). In place of Decker, they siigned Emmanuel Sanders, who the Pats tried to sign last year (but PIT opted to keep him). They drafted Cody Latimer, but they haven't used him. Now they released Matt Prater, their Pro Bowl kicker.

If NE let Decker, Moreno, and Prater go, people would be SCREAMING for Belichick to be fired. If they opted to keep a different kicker than Gostkowski, they would be accused of being cheap and not wanting to win now. The Broncos made some other roster moves the last year or to that swapped out starters or let other players walk. But since it was not NE, there wass no outpouring of doubt because they are not the Patriots. Speaking of kickers, when the Pats switched punters, there was hours of discussion on talk radio debating why the team would want to rock the boat and bring in an unproven kicker. That is the scrutiny they face 24/7.

Amixed bas far as the Pats go, they have tried to add pieces along the way. Now, I will agree that the pieces they got were likely not the right pieces or players that did not work out. They've tried to draft WR help (Dobson, Boyce, Price, Tate, CJackson, BJohnson) and they did not work out. They tried bringing in receivers and that hasn't worked either (LaFell, Amendola, Tim Wright, Ocho Cinco, Lloyd, Stallworth, Crumpler, Kellen Winslow). They tried looking into other players as well (Saunders, rumored to have inquired about Andre Johnson, supposedly tried to talk Tony Gonzalez out of retirement). Bottom line on receivers, they have tried to make changes and things have not worked out.

With regard to the offense, the Pats have effectively the same personnel this year as last (the only two real changes were LaFell and Wright). The only player that isn't there is Mankins, and his play was subpar last year. The talking heads can spout all they want about how trading Mankins ruined the team, but his play did not support his salary. People should have been more concerned if the team DID keep him for what he was getting paid.

So the offense is essentially the same as it was last year when the mix bag of players still ranked in the Top 5 in scoring. Once they straighten out the OL, they will go back to being an effective offense. I won't argue with people that say the line is a mess and maybe it won't be so easy to fix it. I suggest a wait and see approach, but there are so many people with torches and pitch forks that want to bury New England that people don't want to wait to see how things play out.

 
Keep an eye on Brian Tyms. Coming off suspension and he looked great in the preseason. Releasing KT could mean that Tyms will get some playing time. Certainly could be the deep threat the Pats sorely lack right now.

Glad Brady finally has to go through what a lot of QBs go through in this league....there are tons of morouns (intentional) out there who do not recognize how great Brady's OL has been over the years. A lot of Qbs as good or even better than Brady (Stafford; Cutler; Newton; Rivers etc) never got surrounded by weapons or the OL for a lot of their careers, yet it did not stop the ignoramuses from jumping to the conclusion that the QB was average at best.

 
With this Thompkins move, I 100% assume that the Dobson situation is figured out and we will see him on the field the rest of the way, if not then I have no idea what is going on. Maybe they are looking into working out Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, Chris Carter, maybe Steve Young.

I understand Dobson may not be the most talented guy but Brady seemed to get something going with him before his injury last season, or I'm just delusional.

 
Only thing that makes sense to me is that they are going to activate Tyms and see more of Wright and Dobson. Very confused why Thompkins got the boot.

he might resurface with the pats if he clears waivers, but they have to cut somebody, he's already been inactive, they need that lb this week, and it's a numbers game at the position with tyms back.

I don't think they cut him because they hate the guy --- you can only carry so many, and somebody ends up on ps.

I think you'll see him on ps if he makes it through waivers.

McDaniels is doing exactly what I thought he would. They're running double TE sets to give Brady time to throw. Wright and Gronk getting open.
