Indefinite New York Jets Official thread - **2025 season** - The indefinite rebuild continues (2 Viewers)

Jets win - feel the excitement!

Of course the Jets continue their streak of winning meaningless games after being eliminated by Halloween - however this has a bit of a different feel. Its a new regime and more of a growing process. The wins and being competitive are more meaningful this year IMO than most. There is no "generational" QB available and even if there was Ive been burned way too many times by the Trevors and Mariottas to go crazy with a win. Also they have enough draft ammo to trade up or obtain a QB if they want

Its way too early anyway and Id rather have the coaching get better and young players develop and get a feel for wins. If they come out next year and proceed to do the same I will feel different - they've been a much better team in most facets

Offense - Tyrod has shown that a competent QB makes a world of difference....and Tyrod is just that - barely competent. If they can get an average bridge QB like Mac jones/Mariotta and maybe draft a QB in 2027 where there are much better prospects - the QB will be in a great place to succeed unlike the past several failures.

OL had its weak moments but held strong - Breece making a solid case for an extension - they have the $.....Cant wait to see the new WRs with GW back - and they finally have a legit TE in Mason. If they get a bridge and draft a top WR in the 1st next year along with maybe a big time center (ode to Nick) - this O will be ready to rock.

Defense - Crazy but I havent noticed a big drop off or much of a change at all after dealing Sauce and Q - they definitely need to replace them and add a pass rusher but the D is competent and they should prioritize the O.

ST - best in years - they hit on a good coach and players - sign them all!

Coaching - impressed with AG - players keep fighting for him and he was much better on clock mgt - OC seems better with a real QB. DC still shaky and will likely be the fall guy - would love a fired HC with a Def background like Raheem if he goes.

stretch is interesting:

Miami - with faint playoff pulse - would love to kick them out

JAx- Trevor bowl - would love to show beat them

NO - they stink so expecting a W anyway

NE/Buff - would love to knock them down a few seeds

and if they lose oh well better picks - so definitely worth watching down the stretch

I'm tired of talking about tanking for so many reasons. I'm pleasantly surprised with the way the team is playing right now and I hope it continues. The Mougey/Glenn combo is slowly starting to earn some of my trust.

Mougey's deals around the margins have been pretty stellar. Briggs, Brownlee, Metchie, Mitchell, I.Williams, etc... have all been wins to varying degrees. Even the Stephens contract that I know I personally killed when it happened and especially a few weeks into the season has turned out to be a solid one. Membou and Taylor look like players, Thomas is holding his own so far after the Sauce deal and Moore has shown some signs as well recently . It's not all good obviously, the Sherwood contract looks terrible right now and the Fields experiment was a huge miss as well. A.Smith and Baron haven't been able to sniff the field much. despite the needs of the team. I'd still rate him positively at this point. Stating the obvious he will ultimnately be judged by what he does with this stockpile of picks and how he addresses the never ending Jets QB search. If he's the guy who finally finds them a franchise QB they might build statues for him. If he misses on a QB like so many of his predicessors he'll meet the same fate as they did.

Credit too to Glenn and his staff for taking some of those players and getting more from them than many thought they would. The team is playing hard for him, the mistakes are down, especially lately (from last in the league in penalties in 2024 to middle of the pack this year) , and they have found a way to win some games. For me, seeing the celebrations on the field and in the locker room is all I need to cure myself of any tank angst. This team seems to believe in Glenn and the staff. I'm still in on Engstrand and Banjo is doing one hell of a job as mentioned. I don't love Wilks and similiar to @Kiddnets i'd welcome an upgrade there. It's hard to argue with the results though especially after losing your two best defensive players.

I wish we had a more exciting QB to watch down the stretch, but i'm still interested to see how this team continues to fight and if they can pull off some upsets. The roster will look a lot different next year, i'm hoping this staff keeps growing and improving so I'm that much more excited to see what they can do with the new talent this pivotal offseason should bring in.

Oof, terrible day for team progress and winning culture. Decent day for team tank, especially with NO losing and Sanders looking good for CLE.

-Hopefully this game gets Wilks fired.
-It was a predictably rough debut for Cook, but his teammates did him no favors. Metchie dropped yet another sure TD for the 2nd week in a row, brutal.
-The Jets night have one of the best special teams units of all time. 🤣

This isn’t a post hoc statement: I had Tyrod getting hurt by Week 16 at +75% and kind of knew we’d be having the Fields/Cook discussion. Going with Bri: Is Adrian Martinez on the SF practice squad? Hey, make the man an offer. Here you go—it’s audition time!

I’ve been weirdly prescient and attuned to football lately. I had Aaron Jones hurting his shoulder against Seattle. Bad injury mojo.

I barely watched this game because I honestly thought about it and figured it would a bad day for Tyrod and a bad day for Breece.

Ah, it’s too bad. Rainy day in the Meadowlands dump with the crap team and suddenly a coach who seems a lot more heroic than doltish for being willing to brave this.

I’m coming around. I might really hate his public-facing comments and his in-game management, but to come into this entire situation—from the owner to the physical location to the facilities and architectural grossness of the stadium—right now it has the look of a garbage organization; and either this guy cosmically deserves to get chewed up and spit out like fate nearly demands it (I don’t believe that) or he has a reservoir of faith to draw upon that is vast and deep and he combines that with the ability to see an organizational structure and methodology and then think that he can resist the inertia towards collapse by altering the way it is done. Godspeed to Aaron Glenn.
