Intel chiefs request no public hearing of threats this year because they are afraid that President Trump might get angry again. (1 Viewer)

Even for President Trump, this story is so amazing that I thought it deserved its own thread:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.politico.com/amp/news/2020/01/15/intel-agencies-threats-hearing-trump-099494

Trump was angry last year because they contradicted him so often:

1. Trump publicly doubted that Russia interfered in the 2016 election; the intel chiefs said they did.

2. Trump publicly said that there was no more nuclear threat from North Korea, the intel chiefs said there was.

3. Trump publicly said that Iran had violated their agreement with us; the Intel chiefs said Iran was in compliance.

4. Trump publicly said ISIS had been destroyed and was no longer a threat; the intel chiefs said ISIS was still a major threat.

This year Trump has asserted that he was told by the intel chiefs that  Soleimani posed an imminent threat to us; they have yet to publicly confirm this. Trump has also stated that Turkey posed no threat to the Kurds and that there is no evidence that Prince Bin Salmon murdered Khashoggi, the intel chiefs are likely to contradict both statements. So they are concerned that it will lead to him getting upset again and we don’t want that, do we?

The request, which is unlikely to be approved, has been made through initial, informal conversations at the staff level between Capitol Hill and the clandestine community, the people said.

Well sure. It’s a Democrat Congress. Schiff would never go for that.

But the request itself is IMO very newsworthy and highly disturbing.

The intel chiefs lie their asses off all the time.  They overplay ‘’threats’’ to get bigger budgets for themselves.  WMDs a slam dunk in Iraq?  No ‘witting’ collection of civilian data?  The lies about torture/drone programs?  It seems like you have to have the memory of a goldfish to think they’re trustworthy all of a sudden.

I don’t trust Trump either but that doesn’t mean we should start begging spooks to inform our worldview.
