Interesting Situation (1 Viewer)

I'm playing the same guy this week in my two leagues.

Ironically, we will be starting some of the same players against each other. I have Vick in one league and Schaub and Gore in the other. While he has the opposite. We could also both end up starting the Miami D.

Has anyone ever had this situation before? I am thinking about starting McNabb over Schaub simply for rooting interest. That way I can just root for Dallas  to shut down Houston since he will be starting Foster against me in the league where I have Schaub.

In the end, I always start the guy I feel has the best chance to score the most points. But I do think McNabb and Schaub project similarly this week and I HATE when I have a guy in one league and am playing against him in another. This week I have the added twist of playing the same guy in my two leagues.

Curious to anyone else's thoughts on this or if others have faced a similar situation.

Always start the players that you think will score the most points. Don't worry about who he has on his roster. It's really that simple.

When I set my roster, I ask myself "Which of my players do I think will score the most points?", then I put those players in my starting lineup, since I intend to score as many points as possible.

 It sucks that it may ruin some of your enjoyment, but it really does just come down to this. Now, if the leagues aren't big money leagues, and bragging rights are at stake, take a few gambles and go for broke. :)

Thanks for the feedback and I knew that would be the majority response.

BUT as I said I have Schaub and McNabb projected VERY similarly this week. As in, I think it's pretty much a coin toss based on various factors. I think the Skins will have to throw the ball to rack up points in STL and I think Dallas D plays very well this week with their season on the line.

With that being the case, the fact that my opponent is starting the same guy in another league could be a deciding factor.

Well, if you have them projected that similarly, I'd just start the guy that gives you the warm fuzzies when you think about starting him.

I don't want to jinx you but....you could make the change and then wind up losing both games by being right in the first place. There is no crime in starting mcnabb. Stl is a great matchup.Good luck.

Why'd you come here and ask if you have already decided not to start Schaub based on your opponent's lineup in a completely separate league? Were you just hoping someone would validate that idea?Bottom line is, not starting him because he's against you in another league doesn't increase or decrease your odds of anything, except going 1-1 this weekend. You are very slightly more likely to either lose both or win both.

Also, it's not ironic that you both have some of the same players, it's coincidence.

I haven't decided yet. That's an incorrect assumption on your part. The bolded part is kind of the whole point though I failed to mention it directly. If I start McNabb over Schaub and Schuab has a worse day than him (and Vick) then I increase my chances of going 2-0 (or 0-2). So that's really the driving factor. Obviously I need to make decisions to put the best roster on the field in each league independently but this week there's an interesting twist to things as I try to go to 3-0 and stay in 1st place in both leagues against a friend and good competitor for several years.

And thanks for the tip. Coincidence would have been better diction. Good thing people knew what I meant though.

Easier said then done. I have Mendy in two leagues with very similar RBs in front and behind him. I decided I'm only playing him in line to hedge my bets. Make no mistake, FF is gambling, and in gambling it is almost always smart to hedge your bets.

I guess that's what it boils down to. Since I have Schaub and McNabb projected so close do I hedge my bets and start Schaub or go for what is somewhat higher risk/reward with McNabb.
I had no idea fantasy football was so hard for some people
Thanks for the condescending tone along with your contribution to the thread. Not that you or anyone cares but fantasy football is so hard for me that I've won my main league 4 of the last 7 years. Sometimes I use forums like this to think out loud and get some feedback. Again, thanks for yours. Enjoy your football Sunday.
