Several states (I think mine was first) have adopted their own laws making online gambling of any sort illegal. In WA state its a class C felony. Yes, playing poker for nickels and pennies is a FELONY in my state. Burn up a bowl at home? No sweat. Rake a 12 cent pot in holdem, felony. Because of this, all the poker providers don't offer the game in our state.Americas Card Room. You can play in the US and they have a sports book too

I was once know by that name, but not so much any more.Shick! IIRC?
I didn't know you were connected to poker but I thought that was you. Good luck, hope it goes well.I was once know by that name, but not so much any more.

Rules. That's my second favorite all time gif. Odd seeing that pic from when I had hair.

Doing the lord's work.Someone that we might have heard of had his chance to tell it like it is. http://www.geekwire.com/2017/online-poker-really-crime-high-school-math-teacher-makes-case-legalization/
Illegal![]()
In Ohio and don't think we have any laws on it. I hope not, anyways.
The Federal Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act 2006 holds operating an online poker business in Ohio as illegal, unless a state has passed legislation permitting it. Since Ohio has not passed any such legislation, operating an online poker site is deemed illegal in the state. However, residents of Ohio continue to play poker legally at offshore sites not regulated under United States jurisdiction.
Sort of a weird scenario. Teacher confesses crime in front of state senate. A few articles are starting to pop up. Seattle radio station picked it up as well. Wondering how much attention I want from all this. Had the superintendent of the school I teach at talk to me yesterday. He let me know I was good to go if I wanted to pursue the issue and bring it into the light. You are an American hero. Much respect.![]()

The guy is clearly an idiot and what he wrote is libelous. Also got blasted by some random internet stranger calling me an addict.
Was this back in the golden age of online poker? Nowadays I have a hard time believing anyone is making any real money with online poker. It's full of nothing but super-tight nits.Shick said he made about $2,000 in profits during that summer playing online poker, but would have actually lost more than $1,000 if playing with the same degree of success at a physical casino, because of the higher rake, or commission, taken by the cardroom
The 214,000 hands of data I shared was from only the summer of 2009. The game tightened up a lot then and I was making about 2BB/100 hands. Compared to the other grinders (according to pokerratings.com) I was doing quite well. I remember well the 2003 to 2006 hey-day. Was no problem making cash then, but the game changed severely when the multi-table full ring grinders became the norm as opposed to the rarity. Was this back in the golden age of online poker? Meanwhile the live players in Washington card rooms continue to be fish. Yeah you have to pay a higher rake and get fewer hands in, but the money you can make from a few pots is much higher than what you're going to see online.
