What about in NJ? We have online casinos that are now legal.

New Jersey law does not contain a so-called “bad actors” clause, so the decision about whether to allow PokerStars in is left completely up to regulators. And regulators initially appeared to be bullish on PokerStars’ chances post-Amaya purchase.

Got invited to testify at a senate hearing in Washington state next week. Will do my best to represent the online poker crowd.

Several states (I think mine was first) have adopted their own laws making online gambling of any sort illegal. In WA state its a class C felony. Yes, playing poker for nickels and pennies is a FELONY in my state. Burn up a bowl at home? No sweat. Rake a 12 cent pot in holdem, felony. Because of this, all the poker providers don't offer the game in our state.

NJ is legal, but we only get to play bs other people in NJ, so no massive tourneys are there unless you go to a still not legal offshore site. So it is half fixed for us.

Sort of a weird scenario. Teacher confesses crime in front of state senate. A few articles are starting to pop up. Seattle radio station picked it up as well. Wondering how much attention I want from all this. Had the superintendent of the school I teach at talk to me yesterday. He let me know I was good to go if I wanted to pursue the issue and bring it into the light.You are an American hero. Much respect.
Also got blasted by some random internet stranger calling me an addict. Apparently I've been locked away in a dark room because I have no friends. I guess you'll have this if you put yourself in the spotlight.

Was this back in the golden age of online poker? Nowadays I have a hard time believing anyone is making any real money with online poker. It's full of nothing but super-tight nits.
Meanwhile the live players in Washington card rooms continue to be fish. Yeah you have to pay a higher rake and get fewer hands in, but the money you can make from a few pots is much higher than what you're going to see online.

The 214,000 hands of data I shared was from only the summer of 2009. The game tightened up a lot then and I was making about 2BB/100 hands. Compared to the other grinders (according to pokerratings.com) I was doing quite well. I remember well the 2003 to 2006 hey-day. Was no problem making cash then, but the game changed severely when the multi-table full ring grinders became the norm as opposed to the rarity.
I was (and I guess I still am) a low limit full ring grinder. Once you commit to the limit game your profit margins are sort of predefined if you play disciplined. From what I understand players who play well can crush no-limit live games. It's much more difficult in a live limit game.
