Ipad repair (1 Viewer)

Anybody done it?

Kids dropped my wife's ipad cracking the screen in multiple places. Screen still works, if you don't mind picking glass out of your hand when using it.

After watching several youtube vids on repair, I figured I'll give it a shot. Parts are reasonable, and the videos show you exactly how to take apart, and put the thing back together.

Ordered the new screen and repair parts for around $20

Once the new digitizer(screen) showed up I started tearing the old one off. Taped the screen up so I wouldn't have shards of glass everywhere. It's not easy to get the ####er off......like, really not easy. I removed all of the old adhesive, removed screen tether, and attached the new digitizer.

Figuring I was done, I hit the power button and...........nothing, thing wont turn on. Plugged it in and BAM, it starts right up. It's FIXED!!!!(kind of) Turns out while taking the screen off I accidentally ruined the power ribbon and tore off the wifi connector.

New parts on order.......all under $20, so that's good. Wife thinks I'm nut, she was ready to run out and buy a new one......I'll show her.

I'm no handyman, but this is kinda fun.......anybody else tried fixing their broken phone/tablet before?

Don't know about the iPad but my wife paid $110 to fix the screen on her iPhone 6.....twice.

I would definitely let the professionals do this....no way in hell I'd tackle this to save something like $50.

Fixed mine just this week. Samsung Tablet wasn't charging. Repair store said $75. Wife said buy a new one. I figured it was the charging port. Bought the part on Amazon for $7.00. Watched a youtube video. Repair from start to finish took 5 minutes. Good as new. Agree that it was fun to do.

I've considered it, but the way those things are put together, I decided against it. Its really not worth the headache imo. Laptops sure, but not those things. This is why my kids use nothing but the kindle fire kids edition; $120 bucks and 2 years free replacement.

Cracked the screen on my Ipad. Found a guy on CL that came to my house, replaced the screen and put a 2nd cover on to protect the original from breaking. Paid him $135 and he never got out of his car.

I have fixed iPhones but my wife's iPad screen is cracked And after watching the you tube videos on how to fix them, I am not even going to bother. They have a place inside Walmart that will do it for 89.99.

My wife broke her phone, found a guy on Craigslist (he works in a shop), two hours and $50 later her phone is as good as new.

Congratulations on fixing it yourself but it's much easier to leave these things to people who do it for a living.

I still use an iPad 2. Can't wait until that dinosaur breaks. Can't even browse the internet on it cuz of how slow it is now.

I've replaced the glass on a few iPhones. Used icracked.com for parts. Fun. Never an iPad yet. Hopefully won't have to.
