Iphone backup corrupt but there is no backup... Help! (1 Viewer)

I know this isn't the best place to ask but I figured someone here might be able to help.

In preparation for my new iphone on Friday, I'm trying to back up my Iphone x so that I can easily restore my new phone from this backup.  I know that you can directly transfer from one to the other but it will tie up both phones for several hours.

I get a pop-up "iTunes could not backup iPhone "iPhone x" because the backup was corrupt.  Delete the backup for this iPhone in Devices Preferences, then try again"

I get the same with my iPad.

However, it says that I have never backed up my phone or iPad to this computer and there are no backups in Devices even though I have.

Any suggestions?

Try a different computer with iTunes?

Why are you using iTunes, just use iCloud. So much easier.
