IR Rules for Dynasty/Keeper (1 Viewer)

I don't have any IR Rules for my Dynasty Keeper leagues, but even Yahoo has "IR" spots they can reserve.

How do you handle it in your league?
If you have a Contract Year or Salary Cap, does the guy continue to cost fully against his Contract/Cap?
If a guy goes on IR, does that just free up an active roster spot? Thanks and Happy Week 1 2009 to you!

Dynasty Salary Cap (no contracts, performance bonuses) we use:

2. Guy continues to count as part of your total salary 100%

3. You can only put a guy on IR if he's officially on IR thru the NFL, and after you do this you can place him on IR and get a roster spot

We just eliminated our IR 'cause it was just a pain in the ###. We were 22 man, start 10 with 2 IR spots. We finally said eff it & went to 24 man rosters.

In our keeper league it's a bit harsh, but keeps someone from taking advantage of the extra roster spot. If a player goes on IR he is an automatic keeper for the next year. It keeps people from stashing rookies/players on IR that would normally be dropped into the FA pool during bye weeks.

THe dynasty league I run has 4 taxi squad spots that you can pay $2 to use per spot. The taxi squad is available to rookies and anyone that is listed doubtful or out or on I/R or PUP list. Once a player plays in a game he must be removed from the taxi squad to the active roster or he will be cut. Our transaction cap is $50 of real money so it is a choice for everyone.

Dynasty league, no salary cap or contract years. Someone on your IR roster does not count toward roster limits, so theoretically in our league you could have an unlimited amount of guys on IR and still have a full regular (17), reserve (10), and rookie (4) rosters as well. However, to be put on your IR roster:

1) Player must be on the actual NFL IR list.

2) Player must have already been on your rosters when he was put on the NFL IR in order to be put on IR in our league.

After the season, all IR'd players are then placed back onto your regular rosters, and you have to then make cutdowns before the next year's draft.

It's a pretty generous IR policy but I like it. It doesn't let people abuse it by picking up and stashing any and every FA that goes on IR, but it does allow someone suffering through an unlucky, injury-riddled year to have some breathing room rather than forcing them to cut/trade good players that get injured just to make space for crappy FA pickups that they'll be cutting next year anyway.
