is addai going to pull a benson? (1 Viewer)

I think people need to calm down. Maroney and Williams just signed along with a slew of other first rounders in the last day so that will certainly help determine what Addai's "slot" is. If Addai misses another week or two then it's time to worry, but training camp hasn't even started for the Colts yet.

He would screw the Colts over this year if he did.

He needs to be in camp so he can be ready to pass-block.

Agree with above, doubt he holds out, although a hold out of ANY length severely reduces his chances of seeing any relevant amount of carries.

I think the difference is in leverage.

Indy has few other options thus making Addai actually have some form of leverage while Chicago obviously had T. Jones. I think that is why Benson made a mistake and it proved to play out over the first three quarters of the season. (you could argue more if you'd like).

I think Addai could do much like James did with Indy and LT did in SD and still get playing time. He's isn't quite as coveted as the two mentioned here, but does have some wiggle room where Jones did not.

Note: I am not comparing the talent of Addai to LT or James for that matter, just the situation.

Addai could use the leverage of his situation to hold out, but the rate of return vs. the risk on such a move would make it not worth it. As soon as he starts thinking about holding out, the Colts will start talking about how great D. Rhodes is or how nice T. Jones would look in an Indy uniform.

At this point, Addai has one of the best situations in football. The best way for him to up his stock is to work hard, play well, and get a nice 2nd contract or renegotiate his first one. There may be a time for him to hold out, but it aint now.

:goodposting:

The Colts have not signed ANY of their rookies yet. On the news a few hours ago it sounded like all of them would be done by Sunday when camp opens :)

Any other local information from Indy homers? Haven't *all* the other first round RBs signed? Shouldn't that make Addai's deal a lot easier to negotiate? He doesn't have controversial representation (a la Rosenhaus, Poston), does he?Obviously an Addai owner here, very much wanting him to be in camp on time. . . TIA for any info you guys have.

Addai signed today -- five-year deal.

Good news for Colts and great news for Addai owners.

Sorry, no link. Word will be out on it soon, if it isn't already.

Bill Polian usually waits until the last minute to sign draft picks. Even if purestrength isn't correct that Addai is signed, Addai is pretty much slotted because picks #29 and #32 were signed earlier in the week.
