Is Arizona a WASTELAND for RB'S? (1 Viewer)

Very good question. I would take Emmitt out of the equation b/c he was basically living on borrowed time at with the Cardinals (Shipp had as much production as Emmitt). Arrington's NFL skill set & talent is still up for debate.

Having said that, the Edge & Thomas Jones points are legit. Edge was a superstar in Indy, which should be noted is a skill player's dream offense. Jones was an absolute bust as an early 1st round RB in Arizona, but he's been a solid starting RB with a diverse skill set in Chicago.

Bad franchises don't bread productive players.

it's the worst offensive running game system the NFL has seen in the last 10 years....maybe more.

' date='Oct 23 2006, 11:50 PM' post='5779921']Adrian Murrell and Emmitt Smith both had solid years there.
Ok, two guys with decent years in 10+ years. One of which is a hall of famer.

Edge was a superstar in Indy cause he had a HOF worthy QB and a great O-Line and that spoiled him. Now he must work for those yards and he is unable to do so. Still can't believe people said James is better then LJ. Has the same sitaution, bad QB, No passing game, bad line, and he is money.

Emmitt had over 1000 total yards and 9 TD's his last season..Not a waste to me
1000 yards isn't that good of a season (edit to add: especially 1000 TOTAL yards). 9 TD's is very good, but any Vardell or Alstott can do that. I did some research on the effects of age on NFL RBs a few years ago. While their yardage almost always took a huge dive, the one area where older RB's seem to do fine was in goal-line work. 30-35 year old RBs can still put the ball in the endzone. Not to mention, Adrian Murrell's season wasn't all that great. It's kinda embarrassing to hold that up as proof of a good running game. And if I remember correctly, Johnny Johnson never broke the 1000 yd rushing mark. ...So we're going back 20 years for a legit sustained rushing attack.Poor franchises bread poor production. This franchise needs an epiphany to turn it around. See: Bengals, Cincinnati.Leinart, Fitzgerald, Boldin & Edge are a great offensive nucleus. That's not the problem. They need management & coaching to catch up to the talent.

Arizona is a wasteland for football players. Worst organization in pro sports.

Hey don't forget that Priest Holmes was also a Cardinal for many years.

People DOGG Edge but before that ACL injury he was a superior rb.

Post injury, these last few years, he didnt have any burst or too many swift moves. He could still block and run the stretch plays but with Manning so good w/ play action, any rb running in indy will do well.

But before injury EDGE was a top notch skilled rb, like Ricky Williams.
