Is Buster Davis a good option (1 Viewer)

Just read on Rotoworld that Floyd's hamstring injury may be "severe". What are the thoughts on Davis stepping in and taking over Floyd's spot and being a serviceable option?

He was serviceable yesterday. I'd love to hear what Charger homers think - I've heard conflicting info on Davis. He seems to have improved, so in terms of potential dynasty value I'm interested in any short and long term value.

Buster Davis is the strongest argument for those thinking A.J. screwed up by not paying Jackson more to play this year. He's dropping balls he should be catching. With Naanee, Floyd, Gates banged up he's in line for some numbers just via volume of targets he'd be in line for from Rivers, but I don't see him panning out long term unless he unexpectedly improves. If everyone was healthy I could see Crayton taking his spot.

He led the team in targets this past week and they play the Patriots in what should be a high scoring game. I think he'll be high on everyone's sleeper list this upcoming week.

The question seems to be, who is going to take the reigns? Floyd and Gates are out, Legadu Nanee is coming back next week and Crayton/Buster are most likely available on the waivers. So at the WR position, it is a 3 man battle between Crayton, Nanee and Buster ---who is the best pickup this week? Nanee is available in my league as someone just dropped him last week. Will he take the #1 spot or will it be Crayton?

Make your lists, mine is:

Legadu

Crayton

Buster

Depends on Naanee's health - he's been banged up but expected to play Sunday as of now. If so, I'd rate them:

Naanee

Crayton/Davis (toss up)

Ill say Davis, Crayton, Nanee
This.
Are we talking about Week 7, or for the rest of the season?
I was talking about the rest of the season. Floyd may come back in a few weeks, but i've been hearing that the injury is worse than advertised (i think i heard it on this board somewhere so take it with a grain of salt), Gates is out for who knows how long --and so at least for the next few weeks, it is going to be WIDE open for whoever wants to step up. And the individual who does step up may stick for the rest of the season, you never really know.I've been sensing some Buster love, anyone want to expand on the reason? Why did Crayton have such a better game this week?

Isnt it a general rule that if a #2/3 reciever that is thrust into the #1 spot is lining up against a Defense's #1 cornerback, he wont have a good day?

Buster Davis TD came at the end of the game. If no TD, his stats were 2-34yds. Crayton seems to be the guy Rivers was targeting. I actually had to start Davis, thx for the TD, but signs are pointing toward Crayton as Rivers favorite target. I may look to add Crayton and decide which scrub to start later on in the week after reading up on how teams will approach covering them.

But since its NE and their pass D sux, start both haha

I agree with this. However, I think Rivers will throw to who is open rather than keying in on a particular target. To some degree, the better play if Gates and Floyd are out will come down to matchups (i.e., who draws the weaker corner/coverage).

Buster was targeted more than Crayton. Buster is plagued by dropped passes, and he seems to be in place for more difficult catches than crayton. It really is a tossup as someone said above... Rivers' only "favorite target" is gates at this point.
