Is Fred Jackson done? (1 Viewer)

CJ Spiller has done a solid job in his absence, both last year and this year. I know he just signed a new contract, but if Spiller is younger and more explosive, i just dont see how Jackson remains relevant in that offense. Since the coach is on the hot seat, I think that further damages Jacksons case for playing time. It seems likely that a new coach will want younger and cheaper RB depth.

I havent seen any Buffalo games, but have just read the stats. Can anyone add insight to the situation?

I believe it will almost certainly be very close to a 50/50 split from here on out, with Spiller possibly edging him out in the end. This sadly relegates him to being flex worthy, where as Spiller will hold low-end RB2 value on most weeks with a RB1 ceiling when the match-up is right. FJax just isn't explosive enough to do enough on 10-15 carries where as Spiller is. He's undoubtedly talented, but so is JStew who can only do so much with what he's given as well.

Don't use the stats from last week as some sort of barometer as to how FJax will produce for the rest of the season though. Playing SF's rush defense will have that effect on RBs.

Would "heart and soul of our team" make you think he may be more than just a team captain?

Short answer: Nope. Long answer: Not Even Close.

But from a dynasty ff perspective, do you see any value beyond a RBBC-flex this year? I just dont see it. Maybe he gets picked up by an AZ or NYJ for depth.

i'd be looking to acquire spiller in every league possible.

it's a miracle that anybody is getting the chance to acquire him at a reduced rate again this season. he will be getting the lion's share by week 8, and killing it. there's no reason for him not to, esp. since their season is about to be lost as it usually is.
