Is Haynes FWP's handcuff? (1 Viewer)

IF Willie goes down, who takes over his role?

Does the dump truck take over the bus' role and Haynes take over FWP's?

I don't think there is a true handcuff as I would expect to see a combination of Duce + Haynes + Davenport in the absence of Parker.

Having said that, I just dropped Haynes for Davenport thinking that Davenport may have more weekly value as a potential goalline back in either case.

I do think Verron would assume FWP's role if FWP goes down. He actually would be a stellar play in PPR leagues because unlike FWP Verron would remain in the game on third down.

As for goal line carries I'd say FWP never had that job. I don't see why more people are not making a big deal about this but FWP was pulled at the goal line for Verron during the Thursday night game. The goal line job should be Davenports now with Verron as the third down back. FWP is not going to last getting the amount of carries he had the other night, but he sure looked good.

I think it would be RBBC if FWP went down. The Steelers seemingly brought Davenport in to be the short yardage guy, Haynes will be the 3rd down RB and Duce would probably see plenty of snaps on 1st and 2nd down if FWP went down.

According to Haynes (On Sirius yesterday) he is still the primary backup. He said he had a conversation with Cowher confirming this after the trade.

Haynes suggested Pooper's role would be a lot of FB, and Special Teams. I'm not sure I believe that totally. I think he'll get some action at HB, but I do believe Haynes is the true backup.

didn't bettis start a few games last year (and obviously years before that)?

that makes me think that davenport would get serious consideration to be the main guy with haynes as the 3rd down guy.

if they thought duce was not terrible, they wouldn't have brought in davenport in the first place, right?

Just from what I saw of poo-poo-port in GB when healhty, I would say he has the inside track on the handcuff spot. Right now however it's a mess.

I agree he may have the inside track on the handcuff, but he is already on someone else's roster. I have FWP and I also have Morency (but not Ahman). With the Morency trade I was just thinking it might be more valuable for me to get Haynes as a handcuff then keep Morency (and wait for Green to go down, and hope Herron doesn't take over).

Davenport will NOT be the FB, other than to occasionally spell Kreider who is one of the best blocking FBs in the league.

:goodposting: The jury is out on who would assume the starting RB role if FWP went out. At this point I would say Haynes is the guy to have but only because no one else has stepped up to the plate. It is still too early to say what role Davenport is going to play and Duce is clearly on the outs. I think it will become clearer as the season goes on...
