Is it time to throw the receipt away on Jason Campbell? (1 Viewer)

Like a working appliance that will last you awhile it seems as though after last night you can go ahead and toss the receipt. Campbell isn't flashy but he is a solid passer, has a very big arm, and he is quickly learning how to make plays and avoid mistakes. He still has a long way to go as demonstrated by the 4th quarter pass when he missed a wide open Santana Moss that would have sealed the game, but he also plays within the offense and makes good choices for just his 9th career start.

I think the most impressed I was with Campbell last night was on the first possession of the 4th quarter when the Skins faced 3rd and ten at the Eagles 22 yard line. Campbell check his primary target who was covered, rolled out to the right and flicked a pass to TE Todd Yoder who broke open for just a second and the result was a 16 yard gain that was followed by the Portis 6 yard score.

Color me impressed. Campbell who is known for his arm was fleet a foot last night and composed in the pocket. I don't think he'll ever be a Pro Bowl QB but he's very solid, has the arm, and seems to have the mental make-up to be a fine NFL QB for a long time. I think a lot of scouts and experts didn't care for the Skins using a late first rounder on this guy two years ago, but it may have been a real nice long-term payoff for the Redskins.

If his favorite target Cooley could catch passes thrown to him!!!

I saw at least 2 or 3 drops by Cooley that should have been caught! Oh well it is just the Redskins!!! YUCK!!!

Needs to learn how to take something off some of his throws. Deep ball will only get more accurate which is what he needs to improve on, and his timing and decisions need to improve. For only 9 starts he is ahead of where people have set up expectations and looks like he may have a bright future.

He lost a 2nd OL last night, not sure how long a torn tricep sidelines someone, but it's nice to have Portis, Betts and Sellers to help move the drives.

Imo, he's the perfect QB2 right now. He probably didnt cost much on draft day, and you certainly cant play him every week, but with matchups against the Giants and Dallas, and Buffalo, the Jets and Miami, the matchups will be there for you if you need them. absolutely throw out the receipt. Ive thought for a while that he would eventually step up. He's got a couple of nice targets, but the Oline is really dinged right now so TEs will kept in more than usual, the team really likes to run in the red zone and the have the RBs to do that, and Moss is great, but they really dont have that great redzone receiver to consistently go to. If he can find his range on the deep passes, he's going to deliver some long scores because his arm is about as strong as they come. Good mobility, great arm strength, stands tall in pocket, nice touch, tough to bring down, poise. He has all the tools that youd want to see in a young guy. In a dynasty, Id be feeling pretty good about him.

AS far as fantasy goes I think he actually has more upside as a real life QB however I think he will put up some huge games over the course of his budding career especially if the Skins are playing a good offensive team. I think once he has that one breakout game, the Redskins will loosen the reigns a bit. If they do that more and more, continue to develop him and put him in good situations, he could end up being a very good fantasy player as well.

I think he is a very solid and underrated QB. Maybe not in terms of fantasy, and even though he's played 1/3 as many games, but he's much more impressive IMO then Alex Smith, who was the #1 overall selection that year.

Like the mobility and LOVE the arm strength. I don't know why it took so long to let him play instead of that fossil Brunnell. The future looks a little brighter for 'skins fans.

Looks like his biggest issue is just getting in sync with everyone right now. He makes the right reads, but he isn't putting the ball in just right like that bomb to Santana Moss. This is correctable.

Jason is GROSSLY underrated. He's started what, 9 games in his entire career so far? I'd say we are looking at a future pro bowl QB. He has all the tools: size, a rocket arm, mobility, and the one thing you either have or you don't, poise. Washington hasn't had a QB with his poise and all these tools since....since....Sonny Jurgensen?

he can definitely be an all-pro QB in time, as those who follow the team closely have seen signs going back to last year. what I saw of him in last year's preseason against the Bengals convinced me that the Skins might have made a good deal to draft him. he still has a long way to go, but the raw ability is clearly there.I sense that he may have just 'jumped the shark' as far as being under rated goes off of last night's game. I think it got a lot of people's attention.

Got him in the 18th rd (out of 19) in a dynasty startup. It's a salary cap league and I have him for the next 5 years for $1 a year. I hope he'll be my starter in a year or so, but he's a great QB3 right now as well...

No questioning his arm strength. Also like the touch he displayed on a few passes, especially the TD to Cooley. But I still question his decision making and reads. He threw several dangerous, questionable passes yesterday. Still think he'll force into coverage and get a lot of INT's. As a fantasy QB, he's limited because if the Skins get a lead, they'll pound it with Portis/Betts. They take shots to keep the defenses honest on the run. But a run first mentality to be sure.

No doubt. But he is in just his 9th game and I think he looks very comfortable at this stage. The reads were there IMO but he still makes a lot of mistakes. Unrelated to that comment....OBTW, I don't have him in any league and I'm not a Redskins fan. Always seems like you should have a disclaimer when advocating for something/someone/a team for no particualr reason outside of me just being impressed.
