Is Jared Allen going to start tackling some people this week? (1 Viewer)

He's had an extremely slow start but was the top IDP DL in my league last year. I'm having a hard time cutting him from my lineup even with the poor totals so far. Is anyone else still using this guy in your defensive lineup?

Seems pretty simple to me.

Q. Does your league require a DE?

A. If yes, then keep him and don't worry about it. If no, then why is he on your roster?

I think that answers your question.

We start 2 DE's (I have Allen and Tuck) but, if we leave one empty it will still let us play. I sometimes will play without a DE or kicker if I want to hang on to a certain offensive player and know that I can probably win my matchup. I'm still keeping Allen for now but I'm waivering on whether to cut him for a kicker since my kicker slot is empty right now and kickers sometimes get almost 10 or more points.

If your team is in your sig, get rid of D.Thomas or Blount and pick up a kicker. There is no reason not to play all active roster spots and carry a guy like Thomas/Blount on your bench. That makes no sense regardless of how many points you think you are going to win by. Keep Allen. Waive Blount/Thomas. Pick up kicker.

I am a Allen owner and am waiting patiently for him to return to his previous form as well.

With the addition of Moss and the anticipated improvement to Farve's game, I will assume that Allen will have more opportunities to pin his ears back and rush the passer.

After the Titans sacked Romo 6 times last week I was thinking Jared Allen was a lock for at least one sack this week. Nope.

I've only watched one Vikings game this year - MNF against the Jets, and they were able to contain Allen. Are all teams focusing on him and taking him out of the game? Or is he just not playing like he was last year?

I thought I heard an interview with him in the pre-season where he said he had gotten married and his new wife made him get a haircut

Just a thought...

Try to keep my 1st place ranking in a Two dl format league, I have JA and pepper, weakest position on my team. Should of drop him in bye week for a WW, now I guess I'll just wait for the packers game then decide. He looks very soft this year. Must got p whipped, it happens to some of us when married for the first time. Grow back the mullet and start to wear da pants JA!!

My favorite quote this week!!

This probably doesn't help, but I've watched his last few games and it is ugly. They aren't even double-teaming him anymore and he is being completely locked up. I am not smart enough to know the technical reasons why, but it isn't like he is just missing on sacks or getting there a step late on tackles. He has been a complete non-factor. Without knowing enough about WHY its hard to advise giving up on him completely, but he's probably a sell in a redraft. You can probably get something for him just based on his name in a DE required league.

Thanks. That is very helpful info. Anyone else have any thoughts/observations?

I'm taking a flier on Allen this week - AZ has allowed 22 sacks - tied for 3rd worst in the league - and has lost 11 fumbles - 2nd only to SD.

I'll also add that from the games I've seen the opposing teams get rid of the ball very quickly, especially the GB game. He really didn't have a chance to rush the passer much that game. Many snaps he backed away and looked to block the pass. That said, if he doesn't get on track this week I don't think he ever will. Although he does get to face the Bears twice, so I don't have any plans to get rid of him just yet.

The following stat changes were made by the Elias Sports Bureau, and are now available to be applied to your league on MyFantasyLeague.com:

Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears

* Brett Favre: from 2 to 1 Rush Attempts.

* Vikings: from 23 to 22 Rush Attempts.

* Jay Cutler: from 5 to 4 Rush Attempts.

* Bears: from 38 to 37 Rush Attempts.

* Brett Favre: from 0 to 1 Sacks Against.

* Bears Defense: from 0 to 1 Sacks.

* Jay Cutler: from 1 to 2 Sacks Against.

* Vikings Defense: from 1 to 2 Sacks.

* Jared Allen: from 1 to 2 Sacks.

* Henry Melton: from 0 to 1 Sacks.

Don't look now, but that's 4.5 sacks in two games. He seems to be coming on a little.
