Is Marcus Robinson About To Explode? (1 Viewer)

Last two games, it seems the MRob is getting a decent amount of looks from Brad Johnson and the remaining schedule, after week 8 is a fantasy dream in the making.

Troy Williamson is awful and Travis Taylor is a never was. This could leave MR as the primary target for Johnson, especially in the redzone.

Downsides to this thinking is that Minny loves to run the ball and Johnson is very good at spreading the wealth among his targets.

What are your thoughts?

from personal experience, all this guy ends up doing is leaving you chasing his TDs. and after 2-3 weeks of nothing and you bench him, he'll put up 2 scores just to break your heart. i would avoid unless you're REALLY hurting at WR.

He could be, of course he and every other Viking WR is on the injury report at the moment:

10/24 11:51 Vikings: Robinson's back is sore

The News

Vikings wide receiver Marcus Robinson suffered a lower back injury during Sunday's win over the Seahawks. Head coach Brad Childress told Tuesday's Minneapolis Star Tribune that he would not count Robinson out for Monday's game against the Patriots.

Our View

Minnesota's top three receivers will probably appear on the injured list. Troy Williamson and Travis Taylor both suffered concussions on Sunday. We'll keep fantasy owners up to speed on all three wideouts leading up to kickoff on Monday night.

So, Williamson is the better long term guy with his hands of stone? I know he has the most talent.

I agree that he will get the majority of the WR looks in the redzone and deep balls here and there. He's the only guy on the team right now that can win a jump ball. However, they had an article 2 weeks ago where Childress talked about not just throwing jump balls in the endzone to solve redzone problems. I won't be surprised to see him finish with 7-8 TDs, but don't look for many 100 yard games. Not exactly blow up material.

Yup. He's been a classic hit or miss guy who's missed far more often than he hits. When he hits, he tends to hit big with multiple-TD games but wading through the 6 or 7 poor games he has just to try and get lucky with the one good one is not a recipe for success in my opinion. The Vikings' WR situation looks like a mess. Early in the season it was Williamson who was looking good. Then prior to last week it was Taylor who was starting to get all the targets and then he stinks it up and now Robinson looks like the best bet. I'd avoid all of them unless you were really hurting at the position because it's total guesswork. Just when you think Robinson could be the guy Williamson or Taylor will re-emerge. And Johnson isn't a good enough QB to help more than one WR generate starter-worthy production.

:blackdot:don't know anything about him, but I am curious to hear what the homers have to say.
This Homer thinks that he is a great leaper with poor speed. He'll catch the occasional deep ball, nab an endzone fade from time to time, and come up with a 6 catch 110 yard 2 TD game once in a blue moon, but then he'll go 2 catches for 15 yards for 6 weeks (or that's what it seems like). Inconsistant player in an inconsistant offense with a bit of an injury bug. I'm staying away.

:goodposting: That's exactly what M-Rob is. If you pick him up for one of his big games he can win a week for you. But then he will lose you 5 weeks in a row and you never know when he'll catch those short TD's.

The WR in MN is looking just like last year with Brad at the helm. He spreads it around and no on receiver was a consistent producer. Realistically, Marcus and Williamson are both worth holding onto at this point, but until either one puts up consistent numbers, neither are worth starting due to a) the inconsistency of their scoring and b) the lack of upside even if they were consistent.

Brad Johnson is on pace for 3400 yards and 10 TDs. Is the #1 receiver from that worth anything? As long as Chester stays healthy, I don't see that trending significantly upwards (other than probably the TDs will finish higher).

Judd Zulgad and Kevin Seifert, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings WR Marcus Robinson (back) will get a second opinion on his lower back injury and is expected to miss the Week 8 game, according to an NFL source. Robinson's injury will not require surgery, but he will see another doctor later this week.

So much for me thinking about picking him up. :bag:

if no robinson...than i think troy could be a sneaky play....someone has to catch the ball. i know, hands of stones williamson has had poor success....but he did have success early in year....could again.

Time to revisit him as a WR3 option? I almost picked up him this past weekend when I heard he was taking Williamson's starting spot.

Brad Johnson hasn't been setting the world on fire, but weeks 14-16 remain tempting.

The problem with Robinson over the years is that he has a big stretch of games before fading yet again into obscurity.

All that said, it's not like Taylor, Williamson or Wiggins are doing much, so you could do a lot worse at this juncture.

I realize that. But was yesterday the first start for him this year?I realize they were playing the Cardinals, but he hasn't had 7 catches since week 5 of 2004.

See my posting from Week 6.

Bump. We know he has been inconsistent in the past, but what about now? Is he firmly entrenched as the 1 from here on out? Is his back ok? Help us out, Vikes homers..

Robinson or Taylor are likely going to be the most targeted Viking Wrs for the rest of the season.

Troy Williamson has been demoted to 5th string because of not being able to catch the ball consistently. Coach Childress has said he wants to see how Williamson reacts to being benched by how he bahaves in practice. I am not exacly sure what this means other than he is trying to motivate Williamson to work harder in practice and concentrate more on catching the ball. I don't expect him to return to the starting lineup soon unless somthing changes.

Wiggins has a minor MCL sprain in his knee. I am not sure if this is going to keep him from playing or not. But in all likelyhood Wiggins is going to have reduced targets moving forward because of this if he can still play.

So that leaves Taylor and Robinson as the main targets when the Vikings are not using Chester Taylor.

Robinson is bigger than Travis Taylor and will get a lot more red zone looks than Taylor will. Both recievers targets are probobly going to go up a bit over the next few games. Travis Taylor has been the most consistent reciever the Vikings have but his upside is limited. Taylor is definitely the Viking Wr to have in PPR leagues.

Week 12 Robinson targets 11 catches 7 82 yards 1 TD

Week 12 Jermaine Wiggins targets 8 catches 6 52 yards

Week 12 Travis Taylor targets 6 catches 5 56 yards

Week 11 Jermaine Wiggins targets 11 catches 6 66 yards

Week 11 Travis Taylors targets 8 catches 8 67 yards

Week 11 Robinson targets 5 catch 1 17 yards

ETA- If the Vikings decide to play Jackson once they are no longer competing for the playoffs then maybe Williamson will move back into the starting lineup as well though..
