o-cab is a solid player that i'd say is borderline top 12, at best. i'd rather have hanley, reyes, rollins, jeter, tulo, guillen, young, furcal, tejada, renteria, then there's a pretty big group of players after that that cabrera is not clearly better than.
he's a career .272 hitter that hasn't cleared 10 HR in 5 years. other than the hope that us cellular will help him hit for power, he's a guy who won't help in anything except SB and runs. i've never owned cabrera and i've never regretted not owning him.
to me, lugo is pretty much the same guy with a bit more risk and a bit more SB potential.
as far as that trade goes, personally, i always like the idea of having 4 closers.
what it comes down to is, what are the SS waiver-wire options. if lugo were to go into a big slump, like all of 2007, how easily is he replaced?
if someone like felipe lopez is available, i'd make that deal.
you may also want to wait until cabrera heats up a bit b/c he does have fans in the fantasy world.
