Is there a clearly more talented back in Cleveland? (1 Viewer)

I don't get to watch Cleveland games too much, so I was wondering if there are fans that can elaborate on the backfield situation. Numbers wise these guys are pretty even, but does one possess more elusiveness? Is this a quagmire because of coaching, or are the skills so different that the current utilization warrants it. Pacific Northwest minds want to know.

They played the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens... two of the best defenses in the league, if not the 2 best. So we're going to suggest the problem is the running back? It's pretty simple why the numbers are what they are... they played two really good teams. Let's wait until about week 5 or 6 to start discussing better options at any position on any team.

I didn't suggest running back was the issue, but rather I don't have a clear view on what each RB brings to the table. Is one more talented but worse at run blocking for instance, preventing playing time? Just want to know what folks who watch the Browns can tell us that don't get to watch these games.

They are totally different. If you put Crowell and Duke on the Patriots you would have Gillisee and White.

Crowell is your more thickly built 1st and 2nd down power runner. Duke is lean, shifty, and a natural receiver. They line him up all over the field, out the backfield, in the slot, out wide, etc. He won't be used up the gut too much.
