Jack Daniels is swamp swill - God Bless great marketing (1 Viewer)

No ryes at all. Not even buillet bourbon (which is like the safety schools of decent whiskey).

Before strike three, just say Jack rocks.

God this ####s pretty bad. I mean, not nearly as narly as Jim Beam, but still.

Anyhoo, not all thoughts should be posted ( the @timschochet rule - said with much love and even more respect, GB), but I've had enough good whiskeys before this swill to say what need be said.

Probably best that I down this whiskey and order another, now.

Carry on brothers. Carry muthafukscsking on.

I actually kind of enjoy the single barrel, gentleman Jack, and their rye is ok too. I agree that Old #7 is tough to drink neat, but I have so many memories of pouring a mountain of that stuff into a circle K cup filled with root beer and somehow making it through calculus class that it will always have a place in my heart.

God bless you.

JD is terrible and it is brilliant marketing.

It's one of the very few American whiskeys/bourbons that I'd just rather not drink. In fact, I've never had a bourbon, no matter how cheap, that I didn't find fit to drink neat. They are pretty much all good, imo.

But JD tastes like banana syrup to me.

How they've marketed a watered down 80-proof whiskey as some sort of tough guy whiskey, I'll never know. The bourbon/whiskey world is full of delicious, reasonably priced 90/100/barrel proof stuff, and this garbage outsells them all.

Pretty sure Jack ruined liquor for me as a teen. My older step bro drank the stuff and of course when I was about 15 or so I got wasted a few times. Now anytime I get a whiff of cheap liquor my stomach goes into Jack mode aka, yak mode.  :X

I used to only drink Grand Marnier but I think I’ve ruined that too. Now a Jamison man.

I really like Gentleman Jack - but the regs is just gross.

@Koya did you just wake up or still drinking?

Just woke up. MAYBE regretting that final Jack a little, but I've been through worse. Gotsta grab a flight for afternoon meetings back in Dallas.

Oh, and my bud, who asked to be left at another bar (hookah bar, mostly AA crowd - was pretty fun, great tunes, but I had my fill and my boy, who is a good ten years older than I at 55 was hitting on chicks. Either he hit that or got the crap beat out of him for trying and I wanted no part of either scenario so wandered to the next bar over) overslept and I just woke his ### up.  Rookies.

 it's okay for the price.

But we're big fans of the Lynchburg area so maybe that's causing me to want to like it.

I thought Jim Beam had better marketing with Mila Kunis, but that's just me.

Oh, and Jack does indeed bite something fierce. Hate that stuff with a passion. Same with Jim.

Will probably get trashed for this but I like their Honey Whiskey. Just an occasional shot, mind you. Not to drink much of it.

Jack coolers were some of the first stuff I got drunk off as a kid

downhome punch and Lynchburg lemonade

For drinking neat, well I would prefer something else, but just fine as a mixer or for rocks or water guys.

Oh, if you are mixing, that's a different story.  Namely, you are spending way too much for crappy mixing whiskey.
It depend what kind of drink. A whiskey and Coke- sure JD is fine. I had enough of those drinks in college and at weddings in my 20s. If I make a mixed drink, it's going to be bourbon heavy and I'm not using JD.

Fair. When I hear "mixer" im thinking something off the shelf, sugary etc.

For a cocktail or a strong drink with a splash or two, taste matters.  For Mrs. T's Sweet and Sour mix, nottasomuch

I said in another thread that I am loving Redemption lately.

Having said that,  Gentlemen Jack and Single Barrel Jack are constant staples in my house.

Yeah, I try to avoid those kind of mixed drinks these days. Cheap liquor + sugary mixers doesn't leave me feeling the best.

Jack is what I grew up on.  I have had more than my share over the years.  I mostly used to drink it with just a splash of soda or shots to accompany a beer drinking night.   At some point I started to expand my palate.  I now drink much more single malt scotch than any other liquor.  I no longer care for No. 7 at all, but I do still like Gentleman Jack

They do have some great marketing.  Anyone else here a Tennessee Squire?    :bag:

There is always a bottle of Jack in my pantry next to the Basil, Taylor, Bulliet and Michters. They all have their place.
