Jake Locker is like any other QB in the first round. Could bust, could work out great, could be meh.
I see nothing about him that makes him more likely to bust than any other QB. They have a rookie head coach anyway, so perfect time to get a young guy and he and his coach can hopefully grow up together.
The Titans needed a QB in the most desparate of ways, not the least of which to turn the page on Young and have SOMETHING for fans to believe in and look forward to. And Locker is the perfect guy for that as kind of the anti-Young. He is very humble, hard-working, non-complaining, etc. Everything about his personality is different from Young. And this Titans fan thinks that is a good thing, because I still shudder at the memory of some of Young's low points.
What I like most about this pick as a Titans fan is that we identified our guy, we didn't get cute with it, and we took him. Titans have liked Locker for a while, did alot of due diligence about him, and liked what they saw. They needed a QB and they got him. Sure he could bbust, but at least the process was good here. Then you basically toss a coin and hope your guy can develop. Nice for the Titans to START a run on a position, for a change, rather than be scrambling at the back end of a run on a position.
I like the pick. I give it an A-/B+. But who knows.
