I haven't seen any of the BAL games, all I have to go off of is game reports. So, I have no idea how he looks running the ball.ButIt is a bit concerning that Jamal didn't put up better numbers at home vs. OAK.He is actually underperforming right now if you ask me. I think there are much better things to come once his carries get up to about 23-27 per game, and I think that should happen pretty soon. There's no reason not to work him hard. His hip is fine.
Personally, as a Lewis owner, I was a bit dismayed at his relatively low scoring game yesterday. It seemed to be the ideal situation. He got 4-6 carries early, had a nice ypc going, and the Ravens built up a quick lead. Then for some reason, the Ravens seemed to stop running the ball, and using Lewis sparingly. At the end of the game it was Musa/Mike Anderson time, that I understand, but I was disappointed he didn't register more carries in the 2nd-3rd quarter. As you can tell by my descprition, I didn't get to see the game, just the gamecast, so maybe I'm missing something here.He is actually underperforming right now if you ask me. I think there are much better things to come once his carries get up to about 23-27 per game, and I think that should happen pretty soon. There's no reason not to work him hard. His hip is fine.
same here. i expected a more from him against a suspect Oakland team.I haven't seen any of the BAL games, all I have to go off of is game reports. 7 carries for 24 yards. longest run was for 16. that stat line doesn't point to musa doing much...it seemed like musa smith got some early work, not just mop-up duty. am i wrong?
if he doesn't show more, i think they will give anderson a little more playing time.Who any of you make a trade for Lewis. I don't own him but was thinking of trying to acquire him. What do you think?
yup.he had 5 carries in the first half and they weren't just 3rd down passing situations either.Musa carried on:2 - 23 - 1 (which was a one yard TD, nullified by holding)2 - 153 - 111 - 10he had 6 carries in the second half (4 of them coming in BAL's final 4th quarter posession).it seemed like musa smith got some early work, not just mop-up duty. am i wrong?
Musa had a TD called back on a holding penalty, too, on the first Ravens possession.7 carries for 24 yards. longest run was for 16. that stat line doesn't point to musa doing much...it seemed like musa smith got some early work, not just mop-up duty. am i wrong?
Tippy toes was back again this week. I'll jettison him soon. 240 lb RB running like a little girl. This guy should be hitting the LOS like a freight train.
I agree...Jamal was pulled for goal line carry in the first drive...ended in penalty and field goal...was bummed!it seemed like musa smith got some early work, not just mop-up duty. am i wrong?
What? They are the 30th ranked Run defense in the league! They rank in the bottom 3rd in every rushing category - yds, avg, tds, 20+, 1st downs, ...First of all the raiders run defense is playing pretty good.
Secondly...wait and see how Jamal runs against the brownies next week...that might show us whats really going on with him.
Dynasty league? I probably make the trade. Colston looks like a potential keeper, but he is still a rookie receiver. If you are strong at RB, hold onto to Colston, because Lewis is on the downward slope of a career filled with seasons where he received a heavy work-load. The odds of him sticking around and playing at a high level beyond 2008 are very slim.Re-draft? Accept the trade asap, the Ravens are a playoff-caliber squad and Lewis will get the vast majority of the carries. Expect at least 20 carries per game out of the guy, unless the Ravens continue to put away teams before the half.I just got a trade offer to trade for him. The other owner wants Colston.I'm thinking of doing it, and was curious what other people thought of him.
Great post. Being a Lewis owner and watching the games I think he will be a very good RB2 this year. The two wins they have had so far have been no contest by the third. Lewis missing 3 preseason games needs another week or two and he will be 25 carries 80-100 and td every weekRavens got the game in hand early and used Lewis sparingly throughout the second half. Probably to prevent him from aggravating his balky hip. Pulled from the goal line situation early due to a nice run which brought them to that point and ended in a awkward landing after the tackle. I think he asked out.In a close game I think he sees the 20-25 carry mark and posts RB2 worthy numbers. Smith will be in more than Lewis owners like in the blowouts.
Did you watch the game?If so you would have seen that the raiders D ,since the second half of the first game against the chargers, has buckled down on the run.The offence (raiders)has been 3 and out over and over,so their D has been on the field most of the 2 games non stop. What? They are the 30th ranked Run defense in the league! They rank in the bottom 3rd in every rushing category - yds, avg, tds, 20+, 1st downs, ...First of all the raiders run defense is playing pretty good.

"playing pretty good" eh?
Trying really hard doesn't count. Their run D sucks and Lewis should have put up better #s. I really think they spared him to help him heal his Hip and be ready for the long haul.
