Jamal Lewis (1 Viewer)

Meanwhile, we applaud Cleveland for inking Jamal Lewis to a one year deal.

He's better than Reuben Droughns and has an enormous chip on his shoulder.

Lewis, who rushed for a whopping 500 total yards against the Browns in 2003 in two games, told us on Thursday that he cannot wait to be in Cleveland, mainly because they want to run the ball even more than the Ravens did.

Lewis said, "I think they are committed to me. That's why I decided to come. They want to run the football and they want me to be the guy."

Lewis picked management's brain about the third overall pick and was told that even if the team picks Adrian Peterson, Lewis is the main guy for 2007.

my initial thought is that is this line "Lewis said, "I think they are committed to me. That's why I decided to come. They want to run the football and they want me to be the guy." were true, he would not have signed (or been offered) just a one year deal.

In addition, he picked management's brain as to say"are you draftin a better rb in Peterson and using me as the transition RB?"

As a Browns fan  and JL owner in a 8 player keeper, I'm guardedly optimistic. The one year deal doesn't say much about any long term plans - for either side at this point.

IF the Browns go w/ Thomas in the draft (my personal hope), combined with the recent upgrades in FA, the O line could go from fugly to respectable. But, they still play in a tough defensive division. Frye's got more experience and with the improved line, the offense looks to be better overall in 07.

The ? is, will Jamal use this opportunity to re-invent himself and prove that he's a good (not great - he's past that stage of his career) RB in the NFL. I'm guessing it's 50/50 that he'll either continue to slide (based upon his last 2 years) or improve slightly to be a decent RB2. Any higher hopes than that are wishful thinking @ this point.

1300/8 would be about his ceiling IMO considering the state of the offense/line he's in. How many carries it'll take to get to ~ 1300 yds. is the debate.

Is LT the main guy in San Diego? Of course JL is the main guy.
and if AD is signed is JL still the main guy? With the third pick in the draft, there is a chance that AD slides to the Browns.1. Raider - QB2. Lions OT3. Browns - RB! Hello Adrian Peterson
