Jamal Lewis (1 Viewer)

Has anyone heard anything about his MRI???? They were talking about it earlier in the week, and nothing was said after that.
I posted earler where a guy in another forum said he heard on a radio talk show that the MRI was negative. Of course that is unofficial.
MRI showed only a sprain.Jamal Lewis (foot) was in a protective boot and did not practice for the Browns on Wednesday.

"He's working to get back," coach Romeo Crennel said. "If he can play, he's going to play. We'll take it day to day, and we'll see how it does. Probably later in the week we'll know more." The results of Lewis' MRI revealed he has a "strain, and the fact that he was in a boot isn't a good sign. Jason Wright would make a solid flex play against Miami if Lewis sits out.

First, thanks for posting this. The MRI showed a sprain or a strain? Am I missing something?
A lot of people still think strain and sprain are the same thing, even though they imply two completely different injuries. Lewis has a strain on the bottom of his foot.

Interesting clip from The Plain Dealer today on Lewis:

Jamal Lewis Sits Out Practice

Browns running back Jamal Lewis did not participate in practice for the second day in a row because of a foot strain, increasing the possibility of Jason Wright playing Sunday against Miami.

Wright has 102 yards in 19 attempts subbing for Lewis. His 5.4-yard average exceeds Lewis' 5.0.

Meanwhile, Miami's run defense (ranked 31st) is a notch below that of the Browns (30th).

Wright cautioned that it's a misleading statistic. The Dolphins gave up 141 rushing yards to the Jets and 299 to the Raiders with linebacker Zach Thomas out with a concussion.

"When we watched the film, we realize Zach Thomas is crucial to their run defense," Wright said. "You watch that Oakland game and you see them playing completely differently, guys running out of position. We realize they're all healthy now and we have to expect something completely different from what they've shown in the past."
It may not be the cupcake running game that most think with Miami. I'm not saying Wright will be limited to 50yrd 0 TD, but I think we may want to temper expectations of a 100yd 1 TD day for Wright, if Thomas is truly healthy. Thomas is a leader on that defense with Taylor. Channing Crowder covered for Thomas while out, and Crowder <<<<<<< Thomas. Just something to keep in mind.

It may not be, but what do you expect Wright to say?

I expect him to say what he did. With all the focus on Miami being a soft run defense, I thought it was worth noting that it may be skewed because the two highest rushing games vs Miami occurred when their best LB was on the shelf. It's hard to replace a guy like Thomas, and Crowder is no where near Thomas. I tend to agree with Wright on this one as far as Cleveland seeing a different MIA defense than NYJ and OAK saw.

True but if everyone is sure Wright is gonna have a big game cuz its vs Miami, they are crazy. I am starting him and I may be a pessimist but Im not expecting much. This IS Jason Wright afterall and this IS the Cleveland Browns. I think he makes a solid start but I wouldnt hold my breath expecting big things this week. Id much rather Jamal play.

This guy sounds like he went to Northwestern. Nice to see a decent quote from a RB vs. 'one game at a time', 'we need to bring our A game, etc.Regardless of ZT playing, their defenses will be designed to support their less than stellar pass D, which has been CLE's strength (did I just type that? ) So, there won't be 8 in the box. Wright should be a decent play, but we'll probably see some version of RBBC.

Go Browns!

Jamal Lewis (foot) and Joe Jurevicius (knee) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins according to the team's injury report released Friday.Lewis missed practice for the third consecutive day Friday, while Jurevicius practiced on a limited basis. Also questionable are Brodney Pool (thigh) and Gary Baxter (knees), each of whom missed portions of practice Friday.Probable for the game are Kellen Winslow (shoulder) and Charles Ali (toe). Ali participated in all of practice Friday, while Winslow was limited. Finally, Darnell Dinkins (hand) is still in a cast and is doubtful for the game. He didn't practice Friday. The Dolphins declared three players 'out' Friday. Quarterback Trent Green (concussion), defensive tackle Vonnie Holiday (ankle), and safety Travares Tillman (knee) won't play Sunday. Two players -- receiver Derek Hagan (hamstring) and defensive tackle Rodrique Wright (ankle) -- are questionable after being limited in practice.Running back Ronnie Brown (foot), defensive end Jason Taylor (neck), center Samson Satele (neck), linebacker Channing Crowder (ankle), kicker Jay Feely (neck), and safety Cameron Worrell (shoulder) are probable and practiced fully Friday

Hard to believe that Jamal is going to play after missing every practice this week.

Have to believe he will be declared inactive around 11 a.m. on Sunday.

as per rotoworld

Jamal Lewis missed his third consecutive practice Friday. He is officially listed as questionable with a foot injury. The Browns call Lewis a game-time decision, but it'd be a big surprise if he's active. Lewis was in a boot Monday and his sprained foot caused him to miss workouts all week. Consider Jason Wright likely to start and see the vast majority of the carries against Miami. The Browns haven't shown enough faith in Jerome Harrison for owners to rely on him to make any impact. Oct. 12 - 3:56 pm et

I thought by league rules the browns are required to reveal the results of the mri and a prognosis?-crennel is pulling a belichek

rotoworld stating jamal's out; wright to start
Good news in the league where my opponent has Jamal and I grabbed Wright. Bad news for me in the subscriber contest where I'm down to Fred Taylor, Sammy Morris and Tony Hunt thanks to byes and injuries.

Picked up Wright in 4 leagues early this week and will be starting him in all 4 leagues today. I just hope MIA doesn't figure out how to stop the run this week.

I'm starting to get the feeling that Lewis's injury may be worse than they are letting on, seems like they have not said a lot from the beginning. Just a hunch, we'll see.

Zach Thomas came back and they held Ron Dayne to 16-40-1 last week. I'd gladly take that from Wright, but 2.5 per carry is pretty bad. Of course, Ron Dayne is pretty bad, but Miami might be figuring it out...

Browns Injury Update; RB Lewis Back After Bye

Crennel added that he thinks RB Jamal Lewis will be ready to go after the teams upcoming bye week. "We'll treat him and see where he is," Crennel said.

bump

Anything new? Any clarification on the injury? Someone had thrown out Lis-Franc sprain at one point, but no one said it much again.

People holding onto Wright going into the bye and beyond?

They were talking out their butt. Lewis should be good to go after the bye
Based on what?
His butt is more credible?

Im holding onto Wright until after the bye but I saw little evidence that this is a serious injury to Lewis other than people speculating on this board.

I went ahead and dropped him, but if I get confirmation that Addai is 100% ready to go and it's safe to drop Keith, I'm going to grab him back. Juicy matchup vs STL if he starts.

Now, which of the 10 Addai threads do I go check?

While Wright looked decent last Sunday, I was VERY impressed with Jerome Harrison. Very explosive and looked solid between the tackles (which I thought was he supposed weakness).

I probably wouldn't hang onto Wright. I think more than anything, you'd see a more equal split between Wright/Harrison. Just my observation :blackdot:

Browns :: RB

RB Lewis Should Be Ready For Rams

Marla Ridenour, Akron Beacon Journal - [Full Article]

Browns RB Jamal Lewis expressed confidence in his ability to play Oct. 28 when the Browns play the Rams. He said if it were up to him he would have suited up last week against Miami, strained foot and all, but in retrospect it was wise to rest him for that game and this week's bye. "It wasn't that serious, but you knew something was kind of off. Rest was the best thing. I feel a lot better," he said.
