At what point is Russell worth considering for a keeper QB?

Many rookie leagues likely drafted him this year, has Oakland done anything to suggest he is going to play this year?

Can he be top 10 in 2008?

he could be pretty good, but we'd have to actually see him play an nfl game at some point to have any idea.

Yes. They keep losing and their QB play has been horrible. JR will definitely get to play some series this year but I would guess that he won't start any games this year. As to whether he will be good - who knows? I would like to see him in an NFL game. JR will not be a top 10 QB next year. OAK simply doesn't have the personnel around him that he needs to reach that upper tier.

He is absolutely worth keeping. If you spent an early pick on him you knew you were investing in the future not in 2007 and probably not as a key player in 2008. If you don't plan on keeping him you may as well just trade your draft picks for veterans.
