I've got them as WR 4 and 5...sigh. It's a tough lineup to predict.Next weeks thread options:"Does Randall Cobb=Frisman Jackson?""Finley hasn't scored yet, anyone else panicking??""Donald Driver: The man does not age!""Matt Flynn: I'm thinking three first rounders....""James Starks will finish as the #1 fantasy back, mark it down."Nest week it'll be someone else taking center stage. The week after that it'll be John Kuhn scoring two TDs. Finley's backup will catch one. Greg Jennings will have a big week.Same as the Saints the last few years, there are so many mouths to feed. Can any of these guys be counted on as anything more than a WR3 or a flex? I dunno. Somewhere, there is an owner out there that has Meacham and Nelson, and has to choose one as his WR3 every week. He will pick the right guy twice (during bye weeks) and be taking ulcer medication by Christmas.
Hopefully. Then he might have some value without waiting for 1-2 guys in front of him to get hurt.Rotoworld:James Jones - WR - Packers The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel suggests James Jones could be "on the trade block fairly soon."It's not clear if the coaching staff was hesitant about Jones' bruised knee, or if he's just buried at No. 4 on the depth chart with Jermichael Finley seeing time in the slot. Either way, Jones is clearly behind Jordy Nelson and Donald Driver. If another team is hit hard by injury at the position, GM Ted Thompson's phone should be ringing. I really never understood why they resigned him but if you get a pick out of it, not is all that bad. I think he will have his weeks as I thought Rodgers wanted him back. If he gets traded -- and that's a BIG "IF", because it's extremely rare for WRs to get traded midseason -- then he'll still probably be buried on the depth chart. But I guess it's better to be #3 elsewhere than to be #5 for the Packers.Hopefully. If James Jones ended up in Carolina, Houston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Chicago, Tennessee, or Jacksonville then I think he would be an immediate WR2.If he gets traded -- and that's a BIG "IF", because it's extremely rare for WRs to get traded midseason -- then he'll still probably be buried on the depth chart. And that day will be when someone else is injured.
He played more snaps than Randall Cobb. He's not behind Cobb. Interesting, I think this receiving group will be frustrating this year. In the stats you see Nelson with 84 yards and a TD but it came off 1 catch, and only 2 targets on the day. I honestly believe, barring injury, that there will be ebbs and flows in this receiving corps and owners of any of them will come away frustrated at times. Maybe not Jennings, but I know he was frustrating at times to own in the past when he'd see 4 or 5 targets per week.Jones may be pretty useless right now but he's maybe one to watch. And Nelson right now may be a sell high because that could be some fool's gold.Jordy Nelson - WR - Packers Jordy Nelson played 33-of-58 offensive snaps in Sunday's win over the Panthers.Although Nelson had just one catch on two targets, he played more snaps than Donald Driver (29) and far more than James Jones (18) or Randall Cobb (11). In other words, Nelson's day was a little fluky. He remains the No. 3 option in Green Bay's passing game behind Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley, making Nelson a fine WR3 option against the Bears this week.
I think they signed him for depth and because he knew the system and because he could be kept cheap. At the time, they didn't know how the ageless one would perform again. And they didn't know how good Cobb would be for sure. So, they paid to keep a fourth WR who knows the system and can do well in it, but a guy who easily could become the WR3 or WR2 if the Ageless One had a quick decline or if someone got hurt. As it turns out, the Ageless One is still doing pretty well (for this season), and Cobb looks like a future superstar in the making.I think if you have Jones, you might as well drop him. The only way he will have fantasy relevance again is multiple injuries.I really never understood why they resigned him but if you get a pick out of it, not is all that bad. Exactly. There would be a drop off if Jennings got hurt, but if anything were to happen to Driver or Nelson, Jones can step in pretty seamlessly. Driver is 36 years old, and did miss time last year.I think they signed him for depth and because he knew the system and because he could be kept cheap.
