Assume this is for 12 team PPR leagues.
This seems like a great year to go zero or hero RB. Starting around round 8, there are numerous targets and even tandems you can grab. Figured I'd start a discussion here vs. looking at individual player threads.
I've got a couple of drafts where I'm drafting at the turn which makes some of these options interesting.
Most of these targets are ranked lower than #100 overall (in ESPN anyway).
Targets
* J. Ford (Cle) - #117 in ESPN. N. Chubb out at least the first 4 weeks. Foreman was cut, but then resigned. That said, he's been dealing with a neck injury since last year. It looks like Ford or bust in an offense that definitely wants to run the ball, but may pass a bit more with Chubb out of the lineup. You've got a starter here pretty late in the draft.
* N. Chubb (Cle) - #116 in ESPN. Who knows when he gets back? He's squatting like a gazillion pounds, but not sure what that means. At the round 8/9 turn, you COULD get both of these guys.
* Z. Moss (Cinci) - #104. Excelled last year in place of Taylor and Cinci signed him to decent money to replace Mixon. Should get goal line carries in a great offense. But...
* C. Brown (Cinci) - #105. ...there's a ton of buzz out of Cinci that Brown could emerge here. More PPR value here for sure. This could be a 50/50 split which is why I placed both these guys behind Chubb/Ford. Again, on the 8/9 turn you could get BOTH of these guys.
* C. Hubbard (CAR) - #115. Similar situation as CLE in that like Ford, Chubba looks like the starter (although is M. Sanders even a thing anymore?). This team wants to run and Chubba is a proven commodity. J. Brooks is still recovering from a serious injury and I wonder if CAR takes the slow road with him this year.
* J. Brooks (CAR) - #106. Great talent, but you may have to wait until the 2nd half of the season. Again, you could get both of these guys on the 8/9 turn.
* R. Mostert (MIA) - #102. Probably will go much higher as many chase last year's performance. He's theoretically the starter and could get the bulk of the goal line carries in an explosive offense. If Achane gets injured, boom. I'm a bit biased here. I drafted him late in leagues last year and struck gold. I'm doubtful that lightning strikes twice here and will probably pass myself.
* D. Singletary (NYG) - #90. All evidence points to Singletary getting a ton of touches here. No real competition (although the rookie is a great late round pick). However, the Giants offense could really stink it up and these touches could be terrible quality. Could see a lot of 15-40-0, 5-22-0 type games with D. Jones at QB. He is a starter you can get late though.
* R. Dowdle (DAL) - #196. If you don't have sharks in your league you can probably wait on him, but I'm not. While Zeke is around and D. Cook was just signed, both of these guys could be cooked. A ton of potential upside here in an explosive offense. Dowdle is going to be taken off special teams as well due to increased role in the rushing game.
* T. Chandler (MN) - #123. Appears to be 1b to A. Jones 1a. I'm not a fan of A. Jones at all this year. Can't stay healthy. At minimum, this looks like a 50/50 split and later in the season you could see MN decide to go with the younger Chandler.
Other dudes on my radar a little later:
* J. Wright (MIA) -- If one of Mostert / Achane goes down, boom. (Although J. Wilson is actually still on the roster).
* B. Corum (LAR) -- Ditto for Kyren Williams going down. These two have identical skill sets and McVay rides his RBs into the ground.
* J. Mason (SF) -- Now the backup behind CMC. Mitchell out for the season.
* R. Davis (BUF) -- Just don't believe in J. Cook and this guy looks like a beast.
* G. Edwards / JK Dobbins (LAC) -- I honestly don't know what to make of these two, but you know Harbaugh wants to run.
There's a few others.
Anyways, after I grab my hero RB, 3-4 WRs and my TE earlier, I'm looking to pound the above and max out the position on my bench.
Interested in your thoughts.
Thanks
