James owners: What to do? (1 Viewer)

Given all the unknowns about Edge's situation in AZ, how far down the wr ladder would you go in a trade?

Assuming you had other serviceable backs, would you do a trade for a Fizgerald or Harrison caliber wideout and then pick up one of the promising backups (Norwood, L.White, Jacobs, etc) available on the wire?

How about a Tori Holt or Boldin?

Or, do you stick it out with James & hope he improves?

Yes, I know a lot of this depends on your depth at rb and wr, and what holes you need filled, but any discussion would be interesting to hear.

see thread above this one with start your studs.

welcome to footballguys.com. I think Edge's value is on par with any WR. But, it does depend on your team and league

I'm not one to harp on the spelling of player names but you just can't... can't... spell Torry Holt name like Tori Spelling. :bag: To answer your question, it depends on your team as a whole. James did have a solid fantasy game, and I'd be inclined to "hold", but if you have a suitable replacement and could get a Fitxgerald or Harrison I'd be inclined to pull the trigger on that.

Lol, I normally am better with names... :X

I currently own Dunn, Portis, Edge, and Lundy --- must start 2 RBs (no flex)

My WR corps is somewhat lacking (Roy Williams, Terry Glenn, Key Johnson, Kennison, and Colston --- must start 3 WRs).

Another owner has offered my D Stallworth + Mike Bell for Edge + Colston. Effectively a Stallworth for Edge swap.

I'm considering it, as I think Stallworth has potential for a hugh year in Philly. I'd rather have an every week WR contributing points, than having Edge on the bench only to be used for two bye week fill ins (now that Portis seems to be on track).

OP, this seems like an Assistant Coach forum question, as is indicated by the previous poster's display of his FF trade specifics. As has been pointed out, it all boils down to depth. Nobody can say for sure what sort of year Edge is going to have. Plus, it depends on your scoring system. Edge should still get lots of chances to score, even if his rushing production suffers this year.

Why do you need to do anything? Edge had a decent game despite getting stuffed in the backfield 5x. The o-line will improve at run blocking over the next few weeks & Edge will continue to put up top-10 numbers. The team is going to run the ball 20+ times every week.

To the buffoon considering taking Stallworth for Edge, you are an imbecile if you take that deal. Edge should be starting on your team over Dunn anyway. Stallworth is not worth any starting RB, let alone Edge. What is wrong with you? Please dive off a bridge.

I think people are overreacting to Edge's ypc. As someone else pointed out he got it to around 4 ypc in the second half of the game. Yes, the line will have problems and no, he won't be as productive as he was last year, but his carried were very encouraging, and considering that Edge had all of 8 carries in the preseason, I think a bit of rust and some time to gel with the new team, QB and line was to be expected. Teams will take notice of Warner's huge game and will not be defending the run as heavy. Basically I wouldn't jump ship because of 78 yards and a TD. I could easily see Edge doubling those numbers this week, though I too have my doubts. I just think he'll have a good game because everyone thinks that he won't. Usually seems to work out that way.

I don't think I would trade Edge straight up for any WR. The line has problems and his YPC may be down this year but Dennis Green was clearly committed to the run. He gave Edge a bunch of Goal line carries in the game and gave him every opportunity to put out numbers. In addition, Arizona is going to score a lot of points this year and Edge will get more then his fair shair of those points.

i agree. he may not be top 5 RB.....but he will get 25 carries...plus all the goaline carries....he has no vultures or RBBC situation. WR are a hit and miss.......last week top 3 WR.....Stallworth, Coles, Plaxico......i wouldn't trade edge for any of those.....

WOW....after one week we have a Top 10 pick being offered for a WR that wasn't even drafted in most leagues (depending on # of rds)!Just a question...why did you draft him? His situation in the off season and preseason was the same as it is now.

Precisely. Many people don't realize in week 1 that SF was consistently bringing a safety up to stop the run. Nolan game planned to stop Edge. Do I expect Edge to avg 4.2 ypc and gain 1,500 yds rushing like last year? No. Won't happen. But it doesn't matter. I see him having numbers similar to McGahee last year except with more TD's because of their prolific passing attack creating plenty of scoring opportunities. 325 carries, 1150 rushing yards, 300 receviing, 3.5 ypc, 10 Td's. Arizona's OL is horrible, but Edge is going to get enough TD's because of GL touches in order to make up for the poor yardage. IMO.

I was offered Fitzgerald for Edge (keeper league) and I've been considering it. This is the last year I can keep Edge and I have Parker, Mcgahee and Tatum at RB. My WR's aren't horrible, but I wouldn't mind an upgrade like Fitz.

Now that I think is a great offer. Especially if you can only keep him for one more year. I expect next year to be a really big year for him.
