Jared Allen--"I beat that dude like a red-headed step child" (1 Viewer)

Jared Allen returns the trash talking

Jay Glazer's After Party online show on FOXSports.com is usually filled with fun and good vibes.

Not this week, as show regular Jared Allen tore into Baltimore Ravens tackle Michael Oher after the rookie criticized the Vikings DE following Sunday's game in Minnesota.

After holding the sack-happy Allen to just one sack Sunday, Oher told the Baltimore Sun that "There is nothing really special about him ... I think he found out I'm an OK player. Guy makes like $100 million. I think I did all right."

On his Monday show, Allen shared his response with Glazer. "Well, that's just some idiot trying to talk himself up," Allen said. "I beat that dude like a red-headed step child, let's be honest. If he was so good why did they have to chip me all day? Ask him that.

"That's just a rookie trying to build his self-confidence up. Besides, you lost and your quarterback spent his whole day on the back of his head until the fourth quarter. That guy (Oher) will watch film today and realize. Everybody else in the world saw me abuse him."

Jared, you go girl.

I watched the game and I have to agree with Allen. He had a very good game this weekend. Not really sure why a rookie lineman would talk trash after a loss (shouldn't have been.) but so be it.

Yeah, and then that QB and the rest of their offense lit you up in the 4th quarter and would have won had a kicker made a FG.

Allen should be holding a vigil right now for the health of Antoine Winfield. The Vikings defense looked painfully average with him out of the game.

Agreed. The entire Viking D should shut their mouths after that pathetic breakdown at the end of the game. Don't these guys even have the good sense to be embarrassed when they play like that ?No. Instead they talk trash about how well they played. This doesn't bode well for that team's future. Similar to Dre Bly's antics last week. Childress needs to smack these children up side their heads.

I like it.

I also like how Allen seems to be setting himself up for a career in professional wrestling.

He's got the redneck appeal. He's got the rasslin mullet. He's got the trash talk down.

Winfield got hurt on their first or 2nd drive.

Some rookie was trash talking him and you expect Jared Allen to just keep his mouth shut? Thats not his style at all... (this never would have came up if the guy who actually DID lose kept his mouth shut)

I really don't how what Oher said was so offensive. Allen could have handled this much better.

Didn't you read what Oher said:
There is nothing really special about him ... I think he found out I'm an OK player. Guy makes like $100 million. I think I did all right.
Incendiary! There is some very special about Jared Allen ... his mullet

its really none news either way. Still think the guy who actually lost the game is the one who should be shutting up.

Best defensive end in the game right now.

Very offensive to red-headed stepchildren.
As well as to those that basically grew up as orphans...like Oher.
Well you would think he would have shown some more humility himself, given where he's come from. Instead, he tried to save face and was clearly just upset that he didn't get to make good on the promise that he was going to make the teams that past on him at the draft "pay."

 Oh, I see. So parentless-children should just shut up and take it. Stay classy Vikes fans.

As for those saying Allen was insensitive for using the term "beat him like a red-headed stepchild"... That is a very common saying. It's stupid, but it gets used all the time. And I doubt Allen is aware of, or for that matter cares about, Oher's past. Oher was just some dude trying to block him until he decided to run his mouth like an idiot.

And let's just look at the numbers:

Allen had 6 tackles, 2.5 for loss, and a sack. He was also very close to having another sack/FF where he beat Oher around the edge and nearly knocked the ball out of Flacco's hands. In fact, it was initially ruled a fumble IIRC and upon review was ruled as a forward pass.

I think if Oher gives up 2.5 TFL and 1 sack per game, he won't be very good.

:lmao: Let's face it, Allen is never going to win a "gentleman of the year" award and his comments were stupid, but it's even worse for a rookie OT to trash talk after letting Allen get 6 tackles(2.5 for a loss) and a sack along with two more hits on the QB. He didn't shut him down by any means and he had help on nearly every single play and on top of that his team lost. Allen should(and does if you read other comments) feel embarrassed about his defense's collapse, but his team won and that's really all that matters here.

Shut up and take what? Allen was responding to Oher, not the other way around. Yeah, Oher should remember he's a rookie who just got outplayed by an NFL great instead of trying to raise his profile by denying the game that was just played didn't happen.

I think the defense knows they were fortunate to escape with a win. LINK"I don't even know what happened," Allen said. "We pounded this game for three quarters. Whether we took a deep breath or they did something to beat our coverage, there was obviously a leak today that we've got to fix, because Pittsburgh has the weapons to turn that around and beat the brakes off ya."

Then, "This might be a blessing in disguise," he said. "This might be just enough humble pie to pop any bubble that might have started forming."

I don't really think the point is that the undefeated Vikes alomst lost a game, I think it's the rookie talking trash after his team lost (not almost, they lost), and he's talking smack about a guy that had a really good game. A vet, that has proven it, on an undefeated team, not a rookie for a team going backwards.Jared Allen shouldn't respond to a rookie because the other team had a good quarter and still lost? O---kay.......

AT 6-0 tap em lightly chilly. By the way Allen can talk the talk, because he can walk the walk. Best DE in football
