Jared Allen bar scene

TMZ has obtained video of Minnesota Vikings defensive superstar Jared Allen unleashing one of the nastiest threats ever on a bar patron who allegedly called Jared's fiancee a word that rhymes with "punt."

Jared and his fiancee were hangin' at the Grapevine bar in Scottsdale, AZ a few weekends ago when some dude allegedly hurled the 4-letter slur towards the future Mrs. Quarterback Destroyer.

When Jared heard the insult, the 6'6", 270 pound Pro Bowler -- who's also an avid hunter -- told the guy, "I'll break your f*cking neck homeboy ... and then I'll write a check to your f*cking name too."

In the video, a woman can be seen dragging Jared away from the other man. We're told both Jared and the other dude each left the bar without further incident.

Jared's rep at EAG Sports Management tells TMZ, "No matter what, Jared will always protect and defend his family."

Is this something the NFL should be looking at? I don't think so, but I can see some that might....

this would be a story if he actually delivered the needed beat down. And what does him being an avid hunter have to do with anything?

Seems like some fool wanting to get into it with Allen just to see a reaction.

Dumb on both sides...but a non-story.

And really, how dumb can anyone be to insult anyone Allen is with? That MFer is freaking nuts.

I want to live in the magical land that you and the author of this TMZ post live where this is a big deal and where that was "one of the nastiest threats ever unleashed".You hear nastier threats than that within 3 minutes of logging into xbox live.

I hate the Vikings and I think this is a non-story. Why wouldn't he defend his fiance? I think Allen is a redneck but I think just about anyone would have some sort of reaction. All he did was verbally intimidate the guy. He could have been a little more undercontrol but you can't get on the guy too much.

If Jared Allen said that to me I'd probably have to wear diapers for a week.

No offense, but did you selectively stop reading my post past the part you quoted? Did you not read the VERY NEXT SENTENCE?

Why are you lumping my opinion on this with the author of the TMZ post when I directly stated that I don't think it's a big deal? I'm simply posting the story.

i'm sure he was trying to provoke Allen into a lawsuit. Take a beating, get rich.

It was only assault, not battery. He's unlikely to be charged. I say 4 games, reduced to 2.Foolish to put himself in a position where his fiancee would be derided. Certainly if he'd picked a classier fiancee this never would have happend.

It's common practice to not read an entire post. Just pinpoint things you don't agree with or you can argue about. Quote those things. Then reply. It wouldn't be the SP if this didn't happen at least once per thread.

If Jared Allen said that to you it would be too late to put on diapers.

It seems like a natural reaction to that kind of insult.

TMZ headline "Jared Allen goes berzerk in a bar fight." Unbelievable.

Do people really read TMZ?

Good lord, it's just a twisted incarnation of the National Enquirer.

To think some count this as a reputable source of information is laughable.

I was linked there from another site. Do you think that video is fake?

No. I think it's a non-story sensationalized in an effort to make a sleazy buck.He shoulda beat the hell out of the guy and we should never hear about it, let alone care.

I read every word of it. It was pretty clear that second part wasn't genuine, or he wouldn't have started the topic in the first place. And even if it was, thinking that this is something that anyone ELSE would call for disciplinary action for still puts this guy way out of touch with reality as to how big of a deal (read: none) this actually is.

Seems that way, but it doesn't HAVE to be. Pro athletes have way more to lose than Joe Barhopper ... so, yeah, pro athletes in 2010 HAVE TO turn tail and back down (which it sounds like Allen ultimately did). They've got to be mentally/emotionally prepared to look like "the little ***** that couldn't stand up to Joe Toughguy" in public ... but then be satisfied that they get to go home to that hot gf/wife and that huge house and that fat paycheck.Looks like some low-scale class warfare is going on. The gulf between athletes and fans has never been wider.

"I will gladly sign a check payable to you after you sue me because I broke your neck for calling my wife the c-word."
Empty threat -- it would have been from a prison cell. Allen did the right thing for his career in the end by walking away. No conceivable VERBAL insult is worth multi-millions.

I just think it was amazing he wasnt so drunk that he was at least coherent with his threats...
if he wants to avoid a year long suspension, he needs to be far away from alcohol and bars all together.rumor is, dudes an alcoholic.

Hey OMG! Ponies!Jared Allen is no longer in the substance abuse program, so any (unlikely) future alcohol related incidents would be considered as brand new. Rumor is, he doesn't drink anymore, but I have no idea if that's any more likely than he's a high-functioning alcoholic that can still manage to be an All Star Defensive End, but I have a feeling that one story is more likely than the other. Thanks for the DE, hope the picks your team got for him all work out for you.Scotty

I hope you guys are sending Carl Peterson Christmas cards every year thanking him for your gift. Just amazing. One of the best draft day steals of all time, and we're gonna send him off for what? a 1st and a 3rd? has he opened a bar up there yet? he had one here in downtown KC that he used to hangout at all the time, even after his DUI issues. closed soon after he was traded.just because he completed the program, the previous incidents are wiped away? does that apply to Ben too?
