CBS 1300 Radio in Baltimore reports that Jason Taylor "wants to be a Baltimore Raven" and could be one shortly.

Citing a "local" source, the station claims "official talks between the Dolphins and Ravens have already taken place" and that several Ravens players have been in communication with Taylor. The station predicts Baltimore will give up its 2009 second- or third-round pick. The source here seems quite shaky, but Miami is known to be actively shopping the disgruntled 33-year-old.

TAYLOR-TO-RAVENS RUMORS BLOWN OUT OF HARBOR

Last night, we mentioned that our buddy Steve Davis of WBAL said that rumors of the Ravens pursuing Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor are off the mark.

One media source has since told us that a high-level member of the Ravens organization has said that the report of interest in the 2006 Defensive Player of the Year is “misguided.”

There are also a couple of published reports that debunk the rumor. Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times writes that the rumor, per a team official, is “completely false.” Wilson also points out that Taylor and former Fins head coach/current Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron had a ”frosty” relationship during Cameron’s one-and-out year in Miami.

Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun cites an unnamed team official in support of the observation that the rumor is “untrue.” Hensley also points out the strained relationship between Taylor and Cameron.

Oh, and the guy who started the rumor seems to be covering his butt.

The Dolphins have not gotten any offers better than a fourth-round pick for Jason Taylor, which isn't enough for Bill Parcells to justify pulling the trigger. That's why various reports tying Taylor to the Ravens, the Redskins and the Chargers Friday are unlikely to turn into immediate deals.

How much would you give up for an aging guy who is already looking past his football days and has a huge contract?

The team that keeps popping into my head is Denver. They're big on veteran players on the DL, and Shanny always thinks that he's right on the verge of winning such that a missing piece like Taylor would help put them over the top.
